My new G3100 is running, but how do I turn it off? I need to move all the equipment. Pushing the front button doesn't seem to do it. And there is no reference to power down or turn off in the manual.
I simply turned off the switch on the extension cord that powers it, but is that the only way???

For devices like routers and switches, there is no point of shutting them down softly. Just unplug the power. That's all. Router's firmware is written on its ROM, no need to worry about operating system damage from sudden cuts of power.

Nods in agreement for hardware based NAT routers.
For DIY NAT router(s) that is another matter.
