Internet not functional, customer support not responsive

I got an automated call telling me my service was ready and active, however my D-Link 2750B's DSL light is still blinking red.

I've reset the router a dozen times, and been on hold with Verizon for over two hours.

Did you check the phone jack your DSL modem is connected into for Dial tone? How about other jacks? If you just recently ordered DSL you should have been required to bundle a landline service with it too, unless Verizon's back to Dry Loops again. Even if it is Dry Loop, it should give a fast busy signal.

Thanks for the response.

The biggest problem is my complete lack of ability to troubleshoot this. I was forced to get a landline, but I have no actual phone yet to test for a dial tone, and there is, hilariously, only one phone jack in my apartment.

The best troubleshooting I can do is logging into the router and doing its "Internet Connection Troubleshooting". The result of this was this error message:

"The cable that connects the gateway with the wall outlet or external modem/router is not attached properly."

So I'm guessing that it's the phone jack itself but my lack of a phone is preventing me from testing this.

Likely. Alternatively it could be a connection issue to the house, which also tends to happen. Verizon might have it hooked up on their end, but the connection between the house and the copper trunk is broken. Hopefully by now you should have your service up, but if not get Verizon out to get it going.

I am having the exact same problem with the same router. The DSL light blinks red and then switches to green, then switches back to red and back to green and on and on. The Internet light isn't lighting up though. My laptop is showing that the internet is connected but when I try to access the activatemyhsi.verizon.net site to activate my DSL, it comes up with a screen saying that the server is down, or something like that. Even doing it with my smartphone. But if I rehook up my MiFi, the internet is fine. I called Verizon and spoke with Tech Support and the guy I talked with said I needed to replace the phone line that was provided with the router. He actually suggested that I go to my local Walmart and purchase another phone line, which in my mind I personally think that Verizon should provide the phone line. However, I went ahead and purchased a new phone line, hooked it in, and the same thing is happening. So I don't think it's the phone line. I guess I'll be contacting Tech Support again. I'm thinking I'm going to have to send back the router itself. This is ridiculous....
