Moving modem upstairs

Hi,

I have the actiontec router in the basement where the coaxial cable coming from a corner hole built in the wall. It is not using the coaxial jack. Due to slow wireless connection, I want to move the modem/router upstairs to the top floor. How do I go about that? How can I get fios signal on the top floor's coaxial jack?

If you have a coax cable running from your ONT to the top floor, you can just move the router. The router doesn't care which coax it is connected to. If you already have a TV on that coax you will need a splitter, but that shouldn't create a problem.

I actually tried that. but it did not work. The verizon coaxial is coming from a hole made in the basement. The basement also have the coaxial jack but it is unused. How do I connect the coaxial coming from outside so it flows to all the coaxial jacks in the house?

You haven't given any indication of how your dwelling is wired. If I assume that the splitter is outside the building, that the coax from the splitter runs to the basement router, that your STB/DVR devices are connected via coax to the splitter, etc., then you can just move the router to another coax connection location without problems.

However you are forcing me to guess what your layout is, and frankly I'm not very good at making wild guesses.

One verizon coaxial cable is coming from the hole in the wall. The splitter divides line between DVR and modem is also in the basement. Unlike Comcast where the coaxial jacks are used for DVR and modem. We are not using the coaxial jacks.

Verizon FiOS does not use a modem. Also, this is the first time you have mentioned a splitter and indicated that it is employed in your system. Please provide some sort of detailed explanation or diagram of your setup and we will try to help.
