Outgoing Mail Server Offline????

Only had FIOS for a couple of days. Configured my Mac mail successfully and began sending and receiving e-mails. Last evening and this morning, am having trouble sending e-mails. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't (times out). Checked the Verizonn Mac mail account information, and the outgoing mail server is listed as "offline." Not sure if this is my problem or a Verizon server problem. Tried sending Verizon tech support a message awile ago, but haven't gotten a response. Web mail seems to be OK.

Perhaps something didn't save correctly in mac mail? What are your current settings for your outgoing server?

Thanks for replying. I finally figured it out. I had read that Verizon doesn't do well when SSL is enabled for Apple mail (too bad). I had disabled it for incoming mail, but didn't realize there is another setting for outgoing mail. I finally stumbled across it, disabled it, and everything seems fine.
