Verizon modem Firewall Settings

Question

In the online Verizon modem Firewall Settings/General section I must choose the "Minimum Security (Low)" option because if I use "Medium" or "High" the Verizon | MyVerizon 2.0 | Verizon Message Center in Safari times out. Is this normal behavior and is it a safe setting? Thank you.

I tried to change the setting to "Medium" Security and the Verizon | MyVerizon 2.0 | Verizon Message Center in Safari no longer times out. This is apparently the default setting and I have no idea why I had the problem in the past.
