Very Slow Upload Speed

Hello, I have recently signed up (7 days ago) for Verizon FIOS and suscribed to the 25/15mb package. I'm very happy with the download speed. Download speeds have been consistent between 25 - 26mb no complaints there. On the other hand my upload speeds have been very poor. Have done several speed test from different sites including verizons and all give the same results about 1 - 2mb upload average. I have done the fios optimizer and have done the verizon pc check and had no issues there. I have also reset the router and no luck. I am running windows xp with 4 gigs of ram and have an X2 processor. I'm running Norton Internet Security but have disabled it during the test. My PC is connected through an Ethernet cable (not wireless).

Any suggestions would be great and appreciated. Thank You!

Can you borrow another computer to test line?

Are you living in a multi-dwelling building ? If so, does each unit have its own Verizon equiipment out on the wall outside, or not?

Sorry for not replying. but i borrowed my neighbors laptop today and same deal i was able to get 4.5 mbs on his laptop. but still not close to 15mbs.

No. I live in a residential home. They came and set up a new box on the side of my house.

what website and what server are you testing on?

I am using Speakeasy, Speedtest.net, and The Verizon FIOS speed test. All Show same results. I"ve recent borrowed my friends laptop same results. I also recently hardwired my ps3 and got up to 30Mbs down but only like 700kbs up =(

What brand of network adapter do you have? You can check by Right-Clicking on 'My Computer' -> Hardware -> Device manager. I have heard of users having NVIDIA network adapters (built into the motherboard of course) and have a setting known as "First Packet" and can disabled in the network adapter properties.

Do you have QOS setup on the router? I've seen slow upload speeds when it is turned on. Make sure the router has it default settings and test again.

Update: No Idea what happened but my upload speeds today have been between 15 - 17Mbs so I am happy. Had given up and today everything was great! Thank you all for you suggestions, they were all very appreciated. 😃
