Why can't I get FIOS?????

I have been patiently waiting for several years for FIOS to become available in my area and am getting increasingly frustrated. Verizon has told me that since I am in an older neighborhood, I will most likely be among the last to get FIOS in my area. I can't understand why. When it was in its infancy in the area, my father was the first in his neighborhood to get it (he lives all the way in the back) and Verizon had to do a lot of digging and tunnelling to set it up. Why can't it happen here? Nobody will give me a straight answer. I'd switch my television over in a heartbeat in addition to my internet and home phone if it were available. Can anyone provide an answer? Thanks

Age of the neighborhood has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of old neighborhoods out my way that have FiOS, DSL and/or Cable services available to them. It's more or less an issue on the demographics oh the area and where Verizon wishes to build out. If FiOS is close to you and your CO hasn't been built out completely, expect for it to show up. Otherwise, if you're in a CO that has not been built out, I wouldn't count on it at the moment.

As someone has stated the area of your area has nothing to do with the availability. It could be simply politics. I know Verizon have been trying to get in certain neighborhoods in my state and other providers have made it almost impossible for them. I mean if a new computer appeared in my area to compete against me and I knew I couldn't offer the same services, I would do whatever it took to stop it from happening also.

If a computer own the land that verizon wants to dig up, i would also try to get top dollar to give them that right. So opens the door for another company to come in a offer me money just to keep them out. 🙂

I find it frustrating that I keep getting weekly ads and letters mailed to my home address and yet when I try to get service they say they don't offer it in my area. Then STOP mailing me stuff! I already reported that this was going on and all the rep could say was that they forwarded the issue to their supervisor. I'm going to call back and request that a technician come out. I know my neighbors are getting the service. So why can't I? They don't even care about getting my business clearly.... What's one household when you have thousands in the area already sold to?
