Cant reach DHCP server with MoCa Adapter

  • I hooked up the coax from the router to the ONT.
  • Then upstairs hooked up the coax cable from jack to MoCa adapter
  • Powered on adapter.
  • Adapter gives yellow light, ethernet cord is connected to PC
  • PC says it cannot reach DHCP server.

Is it a setup issue or PC issue?

Nah, don't even worry about spamming. I wish more people are here asking questions.

If your speed is 1 gig, then MoCA WAN is definitely not used and not usable. You can't have a coax between the ONT and the router. You need an Ethernet connection between the ONT and the router. This would typically mean the router has to stay with the ONT if you don't have Ethernet wiring throughout the house.

Then, a MoCA adapter can be connected to the router's Coax port.

ONT coax is very rarely used for Internet these days. Are you sure you are still on MoCA WAN?

What speed tier are you? Above 100Mbps?

Can't say I know, I was considering moving the ONT upstairs but heard a MoCA adapter might be a good solution. I don't know what you mean particularly about MoCA WAN sorry. Right now my solution is just a powerline adapter, here I am foolishly feeling like I can get faster speeds than that.
