Extreme Lag for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

I'm in Boston. My internet plan is FiOS 50/25. Ever since December 24th, whenever Square Enix took down their own servers for maintenance, there has been excruciating lag throughout the game. It is described as a constant 3-5 second delay causing rubberbands and basically hindering the game unplayable. It is more terrible in the night. Other ISP users in my area, such as Comcast are not experiencing these problems. I heard about it could be P2P throttling issues. Please help.

Have had the issues but with COD Ghosts and just recently!! I called them today and I have an old router and my wiring needs to be change out, this all covered with the up grade to the second fastest speed they offer. So as of tomorrow I should have new fios wiring, router and fast internet that will keep me from being booted from the PSN servers.

It would have been nice if they told me this when I signed up for faster internet last spring, but nobody told me to get a new router from Verizon when I upgraded last time. So yes I was paying for faster service with no way to see the benefits due to the old router. I would have gladly paid to upgrade the router but not one person said anything on their end when bumped my speed up and they will not do anything to rectify this, basically I should of known that I had to get a new router. I can only imagine what my customers would say if I used that philosophy in my business plan, I WOULD BE BANKRUPT!!!

Verizon, don't punish your customers for not knowing!!

DRay, Yeah im getting the same thing, I have been battling with the same thing now for two weeks. I have made multiple calls to Verizon with little successful.

I have had my support ticket closed on me and I have been told the usual speil (give it time it will fix itself) and Verizon has no responsabiliy.beyond the 5th hop.

Sadly there is no relief.

I had a tech out here today who was given a service order to replace the ONT because the Level 2 network engineer didn't want to deal with the issue.

Square will not help you and will point back to your ISP (Verizon), Verizon will not help you with the issue and point towards Square (level 3 specifically in this case.

I welcome anyone with Verizon who actually wants to make a difference to a customer to reach out and work with me to get a ticket logged with your peering network Level 3 to resolve this issue but im not holding my breath.

Your best bet is to find someone elses wifi to jump onto when you're playing FF14.

If you really want to keep using FIOS, you will need to grab a service like WTFast which will allow you to tunnel your traffic via their service around the poor (or overloaded) switch at level 3.

Oh and don't even bother trying to call level 3, they will not help you 😞

Horrible lag in Final Fantasy XIV here in Bradenton, FL as well. Makes the game almost unplayable.

Most be recent. I had no problem the other week when playing. Also in Bradenton FL. Possibly, as said, something to do with Square ENIX servers changes. I usually played it during the day, rather than at night.

Things usually are all right during the day, sometimes.

This is what today looked like for Verizon Fios to Final Fantasy 14 (hint, right now its getting quite laggy).

I live in Tampa, FL and have the same issues. A quick Tracing Route revealed the problem , but neither SE or Verizon seem willing to do anything about. It would be great to actually get a response from Verizon in the forums here.

OP,

You are in Boston. If RCN is availble in your area, I suggest you check them out. They use Level 3 for a lot of their transit which would help in this situation.
