My 3100 router works well but my wifi is poor on one side of the house so I purchase a CR1000 gateway. The gateway is connected via cat5 through my home network to the 3100. I'm sitting 6 ft away from the gateway & using wireless from my laptop and getting 250MB up/down speeds but browsing lags and zoom calls are unacceptable.
As a workaround I hard-wired from my laptop to the same port I'm using for the gateway up to the 3100 and everything works great.
Question is what settings should I have on the Gateway to improve performance? It's brand new.
I'm shocked it just doesn't work out of the box

Having two routers on the same network will generally lead to in-fighting.
Have you considered getting an E3200 or CE1000A instead?
You can return CR1000A in the 30 day period.
