For historical reasons, my home IP addresses are a real routable IP address, not private IP addresses like 192.168.x.x, 172.16-31.x.x, or 10.x.x.x. This has never been a problem with previous Fios Routers, including the G1100, but the G3100 will NOT port forward to any IP addresses other than the 3 private ranges above.
In the port forwarding menu, you can 'Add to list' a new port forwarding rule with ANY IP address, and it will show up in the Rules list below. However, when you 'Apply changes', the new rule disappears if the IP is not in the range of one of those 3 private addresses. When you use an IP from the private address range, it is saved properly. When it is a real Internet IP address, it disappears and is not saved!
This is a pain as I don't want to renumber my internal network. I realize there is no technical reason for the router to port forward to real routable IPs, but there was no harm is leaving this check out. I've gone back to my G1100 router until I can find a way around this, without renumbering my network.
