G3100 and MESH network.

I tried to reply to an older thread, but it won’t let me. So apologies first.

I have a G3100 and two E3200 with coax backhaul.  Even with that, there are spots in the house I just can’t cover.

I went out and got a Linksys MESH with 5 nodes total.  On WiFi, the speed is alright, but just isn’t the same as with  the coax backhaul.
I got two MOCA adapter ($120), but with that can only still have one node with coax backhaul.
I am getting a G3100 and E3200 on eBay.

at present, I have

1.  G3100 x 2, E3200 x 3, CR1000 x1.
2. MESH with total 5 nodes.
3. Two MOCA adapters.
I have two coaxial outlets I know is connected to where FIOS come in, one more  that doesn’t get signals.

I have accepted that maybe the best course of action is just to used 1 G3100 as modem/router. Turn second one into a bridge with backhaul. One E3200 with coaxial support. The last 2 E3200 as wireless nodes.

Is that the best easiest way to utilize all the equipments?  Can the G3100 be used as a wireless bridge?

Thanks.

Wow!  And I thought I was geeking! 🙂   I recently upgraded to 300/300 and had my router replaced with a G3100. They also installed an E3200 but that requires a $10 monthly rental fee.   I went looking to buy an E3200 extender and found they are more expensive than some of thee G3100s on sale on Ebay so I bought a G3100 for $60 with hopes of configuring it as an extender.    I was up till 3am last night trying to get it configured and used the info on this community to give it a go.   I can't get passed the yellow light on my new G3100-extender.    How are you configuring your G3100?  Can you give me any tips?    Do you have a backhaul working between two G3100?

In reference to your questions... I also have two more MOCA connections on the coax that runs through my house.  I don't have any ethernet except between the ONT and  the Verizon provided G3100 located in my garage.

Would love to get your insights into the maze of Verizon Routers, Extenders and Moca stuff over coax! 🙂

thanks

Hi Didiee!    Did you figure anything out?    I experimented quite a bit over the past few days and actually got  another G3100 connected to the internet through a G3100 connected to my ONT.    See this post....

https://community.verizon.com/t5/Fios-Internet-and-High-Speed/Please-Help-me-to-Configure-a-G3100-as...

I explain all of the steps and the anomalies I ran into  some of which bothered me such that I decided I would look for an E3200 to replace the one for which I am paying $10 per month.

Good luck!  If I can help you out..  just reply to this and I will get an email indicating you replied.

Also... see this post about the cabling... ONT to ethernet to G3100 then to COAX Moca/E3200 devices
