My fiance and I are settling on our newly constructed home tomorrow. Construction for our home began 6 months ago and is finally ready for us to move in as early as tomorrow. Our house is prewired with Comcast and Verizon lines ready to be used for whichever internet we decide to go with, so once we decided to go with Verizon, I placed an order with Verizon to have a gigabit Fios internet installed in the house and was given an installation date a month away.
Since we both work from home, the month-long wait for the installation became an issue, so I inquired with Verizon as to why the install date is so long away when our house is already pre-wired with the Verizon lines they need to install Fios in our home. The Verizon representative that helped me last week said it was strange that there was a 30-day wait for the install of Fios and noted that there are technicians available way sooner than that, and that she would look into this issue for me to see why they were giving me such a far installation date. I found it to be strange as well since we were made aware by the developer that there are other residents who had moved in to their new home in the same development before us and have had their internet services already up and running.
I did not get a call back from the Verizon representative that helped me the first time despite receiving a text from Verizon confirming the exact time and date for the scheduled follow up call. So I decided to call back today and was told by a new representative that my order placed for the internet install has been placed on error due to an issue with the order. It seems that they are having trouble communicating with the Verizon engineers that are responsible for confirming that the homes are actually pre-wired for Verizon services. I have the wires for both Comcast and Verizon already ready to use for my home, and was told that other residents that moved in have already had their internet installed, so I am wondering why we would have to wait 30 days to get it installed in our home. It is very important we get the internet that we purchased installed in our home asap since we work from home. Can anyone provide any insight or help on this?
