How do you remove an entry from the DNS table?

Hello,

My CR1000A router currently has assigned the wrong hostname to my computer's local IP, and it's causing connection issues. The manual only provides instructions on how to add entries to the DNS table, not how to remove or modify them. I've also of course looked around the UI and can't find anything. Is there anything I've missed?

The router's DNS Server receives hostname information from each device after they perform DHCP, if the device chooses to register with DNS. Fixing a device's name should just be a matter of renaming your device in the device's Settings, and at worst rebooting your router.

The only exception to this rule is if there is a manually created DNS entry for your PC. There should be a button to delete manual records in the router. DHCP Reservations may also wrench things up a bit, and you'll want to try deleting the DHCP Reservation for your device before rebooting the router, just to help clear things out.

When renaming your device, pay attention to where the rename needs to take place. On Windows, you'll need to rename it through the Settings control panel (or Advanced System Properties --> Workgroup Settings classic panel). On macOS it's a good idea to set it under System Preferences --> Sharing, and you should make sure "Dynamic Global Hostname" is also enabled.
