Verizon sent me a new Route (Fios G3100) and new STB to replace my soon to be obsolete equipment. I'm already stumped on the first set up instruction. I am being told to plug my ethernet cable into the WAN port. Problem is, I don't have an ethernet cable coming from my Fios equipment at all!!! I have had a cable modem/router combo in the past and this simply needed a COAX connection to get internet and Cable tv.. What am I supposed to be doing here?
I need a verizon support person to chime in please.
thanks.

Yes my old speed is 50/50 I believe and yes I must be using MoCA WAN. I checked the FIOS connection in my basement and it only has COAX coming out of it! What's the point of me hooking all this new equipment up if I don't even have an ethernet port? I am so frustrated with Verizon. They are forcing this new equipment on me, telling me my service will stop working if I don't install it, yet what they sent doesn't appear to be enough to get it all working!!!! I think I need to be at 300/300 and I can't with my current installation. Does verizon plan to fix my current FIOS installation as well???
FYI, you're talking to other friendly users here. If you want feedback from Verizon, you need to call or chat with them. Use the "contact us" link at the bottom of these pages.
As for your issue, know that the G3100 supports either MoCA (coax) WAN or Ethernet WAN. If you're still on MoCA WAN, just plug coax into the router. Leave the Ethernet WAN disconnected. It should work fine.
Most people are on Ethernet WAN these days, as Verizon has upgraded the majority of old service like yours. That might be why the instructions didn't mention using MoCA WAN - it simply isn't used very much these days.
Your old 50/50 plan has long been discontinued by Verizon. You may also have an old BPON ONT, which will need to be replaced when Verizon finally shuts down the BPON network. The good news is you might be able to save a lot of money by upgrading to a current 300/300 plan (lowest current speed,) and get a free install! Savings will be determined by what you're paying now and if you have any significant non-expiring discounts. I suggest you look at current plans to see if the offer price savings. You can do this through the MyVerizon website, by calling them, or chatting with them. Be sure you fully understand any proposed new plan and it's costs, as once you switch you will not be able to go back to your grandfathered 50/50 plan. Even if it's 10 seconds later.

It is possible you are still on the MoCA WAN way of delivering Internet.
Are you on a speed less than 100Mbps?

There should be an Ethernet port on the ONT. Right now, you must have a coax cable coming from the ONT. Unplug the coax and make a new Ethernet connection.
If you really need a technician visit, the billing system will charge a $149 fee, so rather expensive than DIY.

While I can certainly plug an ethernet cable into the ONT box, I can't run it to where my router actually sits at the other end of my house. and if I'm paying for an installation for something I did not initiate, I think I'll be switching internet providers, it's probably time. If i'm paying ffor an installation, I can pick from all the providers that are offered in my area and there are quite a fewI
