Port Forwarding Doesn't Seem to Work

I am trying to set up a minecraft server for a few friends. And I cannot seem to get the port forwarding to work. I am able to connect to the server by entering localhost. So I know the server is at least running. But trying to connect from another computer using the IP address fails.

I have a Fios-G1100 router, and my computer set up with a static IP address. Below is the current port forwarding rule I have set up. I have tried both medium and low firewall settings. And I have tried UPnP both enabled and disabled. But nothing I have tried will let me connect. And canyouseeme.org always returns an error when checking port 25565, with the reason "connection timed out". Is there something that I am missing?

I did figure it out. It was my computer's firewall, as you suggested. But it wasn't blocking Java or anything specific.

What was needed was to open port 25565 on my computer's firewall as well.

This would point to your PC's firewall. The rule on your router looks correct to me.

Make sure Java is permitted by the firewall on your PC to listen to ports. Additionally, if you're using the Windows Firewall, you may need to go into the "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" section of Windows, look for the Java entries, and check the "Scope" tab to see what the rules are set to. It's possible for Windows firewall to block connections from the Internet, while at the same time permitting connections from the LAN. Windows Firewall may also need to be set to the "Private" network setting (it defaults to Public) before it will allow servers to be seen.

With that said, can you see your Minecraft server on the LAN?
