Setting up the Admin Password and Encryption key for WPA2.

I know that it is currently recommended that both Admin and Encryption passwords for WPA2 be a combinationof alphanumberic characters. However, to increase added security is it possible now to use symbols along with the alphanumeric characters? Please advise. Thanks

I recently updated to a newer Verizon router/modem and am considering going back to my old one. On the old one, I could set a unique Admin name instead of "admin" and I could use a longer WPA2 key that included symbols not just letters and numbers. How come the "upgrade" has fewer security options? Really backwards.

I agree. It makes no real sense from a security standpoint not to include symbols and/or spaces within the WPA2 encryption key. I would definitely like a Verizon Router tech's opinion on this question.
