Speed Test

I am new to this, so bear with me. I just did the speed test via Verizon's website. I am paying for 35/35. I am not sure why, but the results of test are :download speed 42.57 Mb/s and the upload speed is 5.19 Mb/s. Is that what it should be ?

I did notice the language used in the forum is way over my head, so simple terms would be greatly appreciated

Are you connected via ethernet, hardwired, when checking?

I also have 35/35 and always tested at 43/37 and for the past week my download is all the way down. Upload remains constant.

Try testing at a few other sites such as http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/ or www.speedtest.net

I've been using this one at the recommendation of a few Verizon techs: http://myspeed.visualware.com/index.php

It is like this 35/35 magically changed to 43/35 a little while back. No announcement, it just happened. Still offered as 35/35 so if you get better, than count your blessings.

42.57 Mb/s and the upload speed is 5.19 Mb/s, is good on the download side, but there are definite issues with your upload speed. Try the speed optimizer if you have not done so. Follow the instructions given. If you are running Vista or Windows 7 with user account control, you will need to run the optimizer as administrator. Right click on your Internet Explorer Link and select run as administrator. Then open the link below.

My current speed in Maryland would be better on uploads but it has been bogged down since I changed my routers around.

I am connected via a cable (blue) to the ethernet on router. I tried the speakeasy test and it is much better than the VZ test results. Thank again. KB
