I get mcafee through verizon. I just got a message saying it was a bout to expire. does verizon need to pay thier bill?

Two things come to mind.
1- It was a trial version of McAfee and it would then be your responsibility to pay past the trial version.
2- The free McAfee Essentials that Verizon offers may need to be updated or see number one above.
on a personal note, I would never use Norton/Symantec or McAfee since they are system hogs and very intrusive. And personally not worth the cost. Also both make it nearly impossible to remove. I believe both companies have a total removal program at their websites.
Its like buying a bullet proof vest for your whole body, after you put it on you cannot move out of that spot. Those programs slow your system down to almost a stand still.
I understand you don't like it, but I am paying verizon for it.

I meant no disrespect to you. I was giving my personal experience.
your service actually does not mean you are paying for the McAfee.
it is offered by Verizon in their free security essentials package.
most posters come here to ask how to remove it. Not actually use it 😀
call 1-800-VERIZON. And talk to them.
