wireless router

After weeks of returns and hassles I finally received my extender, but even though the installer said I can get a wireless router and the description of the service indicated I could get a wireless extender, I got a wired extender. I have been told I need to upgrade from 1 gig to 2 gigs to get a wireless extender. Is this true?  Everyone from sales to installer to support knew my house was not wired for cable. No one told me the extender would be wired only.  Why the deception? I don't even need one gig!

Since i heard the word agent, i will give the whole story. To begin with i was never given a contract or legal description of my plan. I only have the general description from the website.

A technician installed fios in my basement and told me I could get an extender if needed. i was surprised it was not a fios router.  I connected everything and ran a health check and was presented with a button which said get extender or something like that.

1. The button took me to a page where i needed to purchase an extender.

2. I did so and the extender did not pair.

3. I contacted support and was told the simplest solution was to replace the router.

4. I went to the nearest verizon store and returned the router, but was told the router I NEEDED WAS OUT OF STOCK'

5. I went to the next store and got a router but it also would not pair. seemed to be the same router.

6. Another support person told me to return the extender and get my money back. A free extender would be waiting for me.

7 i went to the store suggested and another router was waiting for me plus the replacement router i had already picked up.

8. i called support and was told the extender was at the store. another trip, no extender.

9. I called support and a very  helpful person said an extender was waiting for me. The support person spoke to the store manager. Her order said extender, the one in the store said router. They would not give me an extender.

10. The support person said she would order an extender to be sent to me. it arrived - a useless wired extender.

11. I called support and was told the 1 gig plan included only a wired extender. she admitted that no one told me and the plan as described did not mention it. i needed a 2gig plan.  i got frustrated and angry.

12. My credit card informed me that i was charged 211.99 from Verizon on may 7, the day the support person requested an extender

My  questions are

1. if i have fios 1gig, why dont i have a fios router.

2.  in a house not wired for cable, what use is a wired extender (is it true that's all i get?)

3. Since i have no Information, what costs would I incur if I quit fios in 6 months?

7. I went to a third larger verizon store

If you received a receipt for the extender purchase, you can return it within 30 days for a refund I believe.

1G and 2G plans do come with a free extender rental. This is called Whole-Home WiFi.

If you need a strict wireless-backhauled extender, look for CE1000A, not E3200. E3200 only wirelessly-backhauls with G3100 router. Right now all new installations use the CR1000A/B router.
