I would like to subscribe to the Longhorn Network when it is available in about August 2011. It is a joint venture between ESPN and the University of Texas.
Hello Bevos3,
Please visit the website for Longhorn Network at http://espn.go.com/longhornnetwork/ to fill out the request form with your interest to have them broadcast on Verizon FiOS.
You can additionally suggest the idea on the Idea exchange forum at http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Share-Your-Ideas-with-Verizon/idb-p/ideas
Thank you
Do you know whether the addition of the Longhorn Network will be an incremental cost passed along to ALL FIOS subscribers or just those who desire to have it?
As one who has ZERO interest in the Longhorn Network, I would hope that it would be an "on demand" fee for interested parties vs spreading it across the entire subscriber base. If it's the latter, I would have to strongly reconsider my TV provide options going forward.
Thanks,
JB
Disney may force carriage like they do by bundling the Disney Channel with ESPN.
Why should this be "on demand" pricing??? If so, then I want the Big 10 channels removed since I have ZERO interest in it.

Because the Big 10 Network is on the extended tier, and not a basic tier. Plus, there is a much broader subset of people interested in the Big 10 network than the Longhorn Network, even in Texas, and especially now that their conference expanded.
If the Longhorn Network was a one-off add (not unlike, say, the Playboy channel), then I would be fine with its availability. But I agree it shouldn't be added to either a basic or extended tier.
PLEASE!!!!! add the Longhorn Network Verizon!!! It would be a huge mistake on your part not to add this channel to the lineup, especially in TEXAS!! Which by the way is where I live (Dallas). I have been a loyal subscriber to Verizon Fios TV, Internet, and Home Phone services since they became available in my area. I have never complained about anything and have been more than happy with the services (minus the crappy Customer Service agents and Verizon jacking up my price just because I moved 3 blocks down the street). But, even that being said, I have never considered, much less threatened to cancel my Verizon services, until now. Can't believe I'm even having to get on this forum and complain about this. What are the executives at Verizon a bunch of Aggies or even worse, Sooners?? I don't understand what the problem is. It is an ESPN affiliated network. Just add it before September 3rd so I don't have to switch to Time Warner or DirectTV.
Thank You,
Dissatisfied Customer

I can tell Verizon right now that if you are in negotiations with ESPN/Longhorn Network that if it shows up on my lineup and my bill goes up one dime then I will switch carriers...you can hear me now or listen to me later...too many other options out there...plus my bill has crept up slowly over the 8 years that I have subscribed to your service...tell ESPN to include ESPN Classic instead...appeals to many more viewers...thank you for your forum...
I have been a loyal subscriber to Verizon Fios TV, Internet, and Home Phone services since they became available in my area as well. I have been extremely happy with the service the entire time. There are numerous programs that I never watch but don't mind paying for as part of the package content I subscribe to. All that being said if I as a Texan and Dallas area resident will be paying for someone else to be able to watch the Longhorn Network I will find a new provider.
The Longhorn Network should not be a part of any basic or extended tier regardless of what network it is affiliated with. If Longhorn fans want to watch the Longhorn Network they can pay for it themselves. There are far more people who don't like the Longhorns than there are those that do. If my alma mater had it's own network I would happily pay for it myself and not expect others to pitch in money for me to watch it.
Thank you,
Satisfied Customer (for the time being)
Mike,
My household is not interested in the Longhorn Network whatsoever. In fact, we refuse to support this product due to inappropriateness of ESPN's relationship with the University of Texas. Alumni of other schools shoul not be forced to pay a single penny for this product.
WIth that said, I love Verizon, but I will shop for other carriers and move both by cable and internet if needed to those who do not carry LHN.
Sincerely,
John
It is a joke that the Longhorn network is even is discussions to be on any tier and not a stand alone channel. For those who want it, why would you have an issue with paying extra just so you can have it? Why would you think that anyone else would want "your" school's sports? I get that there are other channels that no one really watches, but they have more of a broad appeal - there are people all over the country who watch them. As for the LHN, it is only one fanbase who would remotely care about it, it should be forced onto everyone. No one should be forced to pay for some school to get richer.
As for the Big 10 network, it covers 12 schools and has at least 3 games every weekend. You are talking about over 30 games a year of just football. The LHN? 1 for sure, possibly a second. What a joke. No one wants to pay to watch UT womens soccer...it has as much appeal as a 3 AM infomercial. I live in Texas FWIW, and if I see this on my bill, I am dropping Verizon immediately. There is a reason no other provider has agreed to this channel - because people do not want to pay anything for it. It adds nothing of interests outside of hardcore UT fans, and even those are very limited. I do not have an issue if you charge UT fans an extra costs for the channel, and that will show you how few people actually have an interest in it. There are more people in TX who would drop service through Verizon if you forced it on us than add service to get the LHN.
Let the debate begin on what channel gets moved to a different tier to make room or whether our bills will increase!

THANK YOU VERIZON - Hook'em Horns!
I would like to add the "Longhorn Network" to my account. Thanks!
DON'T ADD LONGHORN NETWORK TO ANY BASIC TIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MOVE BIG 10 NETWORK TO A SPORTS TIER AS WELL, AND LOWER MY MONTHLY BILL.
Regional sports networks have regional followings. Period. Nobody in Texas wants SNY. (Actually most New Yorkers don't, either)
I live in Virginia and have no desire to see my Fios rate go up to support a one- school focused channel. For those saying this is the same as Big10 channels, you are wrong it is nothing like that. If the Big12 had a channel or channels, I would have no problem with Verizon carrying those channels. It is likely I would be interested in possible combinations of opponents. One school should not be supported at a basic or extended tier subscription level. I have no problem with Verizon making it available to those that wish to pay additional for it but I would consider other options for TV and Internet if I find myself subsidizing a TV channel devoted to a one-school channel.
I'm in Virginia too, but I like the way this channel was treated as a regional sports network in Texas and shown to the rest of the country on only the most expensive package. The fee for The Longhorn Network is probably also only pennies per month outside of Texas, just like YES National and SNY National outside of the NY sports region. I like the idea of being able to get this channel along with some of the other not so popular channels I pay for with Ultimate HD.
We are in pre-season now, when will we have an answer from Fios?
