Fios external DVR storage sequence

I recently got fios tv and installed a 1 Tb WD external drive suggested by Verizon. The installation had no issues with the qip-7232 P2 box. The general thinking is the external drive is filled first then the local drive. This is not the sequence I've seen which is: 500 gb to external, 500 gb to local, then 500 gb to external again. I was concerned the 1TB storage was not being utilized but not the case (release 1.9.1). Thanks

Exactly. After I exceeded 50 percent of capacity on my external SATA 1TB drive, my recording shifted to the DVR's internal drive. I thought that something was wrong with my external drive until I saw your explanation. Thanks for posting your experience Walrus.
