Keep Fox25!

I just learned that Fios may be dropping Fox25 from the lineup after Thankgsiving.

I watch many shows on Fox (I'm watching the Patriots right now!) and if Fox25 is dropped, I will have no other choice but to drop FIOS and change providers.

I've been happy with FIOS, so I don't want to leave, but for the amount of money I give Verizon each month, I expect to be able to watch all my local broadcast network stations.

Keep Fox25 in the lineup!

So we get an email today stating Verizon is no longer carrying FOX tv? Really disappointed as I wanted to watch the Cowboys football game and now have no way to watch it. Verizon needs to get its act together!!

Very unprofessional the way Verizon has handed this. Sent an email the day they drop the channel, no warning. Then they offer the solution to download their app. Great, just what I want to do, watch TV on my computer or iPad. That's what I pay $200.00 / Mo for? Plus they want to charge you $5.00 per month after the first month for the app. Called Customer Service, on hold for over 40 mins before I had to leave and hung up. My contract expires on 1/2/2015, if not compenstated in some way I will be switching to Charter.

Amazing....Verizon drop FOX 25 becasue they do not want to pay a less than $2.00 to Cox. All in the name of the "best interest of our customers." Yet, we can pay Verizon $4.99 a month for the NFL Mobile app. This is not about the best interest of Verizon's customers. This is all about Verizon maiking more money on an increasingly substandard FIOS product which they apparently want to eliminate anyway.

Everyone here is blaming Verizon. Have you also called your TV station? They are the one asking for the rate increase. You notice they are the only one putting out comments (it is typically the content provider that does) saying Verizon won't negotiate. Of course they will say that. Pay our price increase and you keep it. Maybe Verizon countered and they didn;t accept?

And yes it may only be $1 (do we know for sure?). But if every local channel added $1 to their price can you imagine how much extra we all would be paying?

By the terms of your contract (if you are under contract) Verizon can drop and add channels as necessary without changing price. No one asks to pay more when Verizon adds new channels. Yes they may not be the ones you want, but there may be people that don't care about Fox. Therefore, you are liable for ETF if you decide to drop before your contract runs out.

And how do you know that you won't run in to this when their contract runs out with whatever other provder you switch to?

This happens all the time (and seems to be getting worse). My local RSN is running notices saying that they haven't come to terms with Dish and you should be calling them to say make sure they don't allow it to go away.

At least Fox can be picked up OTA, unlike a RSN.

Given the amount of money we pay each month, I expect more out of an organization like Verizon than to penalize its subscribers when they encounter contractual difficulties. As customers, our only recourse is to vote with our money. Given this most recent episode of Verizon customer disservice, I'm willing to see if the competitors can provide a better product. Really Verizon... this is the best you can do?

FOX25 is gone from Verizon FiOS on Thanksgiving Day. The subscribers suffer because of corporate greed. And Verizon chose this day on purpose, to create distress amongst their customers. Malicious? I think so!!!! SMH

I cannot find the words to properly express my outrage and anger at this foolish decision by Verizon. When I look at the amount of money I spend per month and the number of years I've been a loyal customer, I cannot help but wonder what I've done to deserve this. Bring back FOX immediately. I'm not paying for you to have childish spats with Cox Media.

What difference does it make? Why not give the customers what wwe want. FOX Ch 25, Blaze TV are 2 really good examples. You could stop many pf the garbage channels.

If I see Verizon on my fox Tv explaining why I can't watch a football game my 10 family members would watch on thanksgiving I will cancel.
No warning just watch it on your cell phone Verizon is done for me first TV to Comcast then cellphones.
Total classless action by a company that takes their customers for granted by not giving an advance notice. I would have bought an antenna instead of seeing people leave early.

I'm with you. Verizon sucks! What a crappy move to do this on Thanksgiving to supposedly try to save us money. Best way for me to save money is to switch to Comcast. I'm making the call tomorrow. Verizon makes plenty of money. Take one for the team and your customers for a change rather than your executive wallets! Cable customers, and I am a FIOS Customer currently, and previously a victim of Comcast, must understand that when a broadcast station owner, such as Cox, who operates on a freely-obtained over-the-air license given by the Federal government, attempts to increase the fees it charges a cable company for portage, carrying on the cable, its programming, that extra charge is certainly going to be passed along to the cable customer. What Cox is doing is essentially holding for ransom access to its over the air broadcasting. The joke of course is that Cox, and any over-the-air broadcaster, benefits greatly not only from the fees it strong-arms out of the cable company, but more so because the advertising revenue it gets is dependent on the amount of viewership, and that obviously increased when the programming is available on cable.

So, tell Cox to go take a hike and get yourself an over-the-air digital antenna for $25 if necessary!

I was just thinking I was giving Verizon a bit too much money and was ready to deal with Comcast again. However, I've been happy with the product (if not the service) so I haven't made the call yet. I'd like to thank the people in charge of Verizon for making that decision for me. If you really think taking a football game OFF of your service on Thanksgiving Day was a good idea I can't tell you how horribly wrong you are. I will be calling Comcast tomorrow morning. You just lost a customer.

Also, I think it's a pretty shameless money grab letting everyone know that you can watch NFL games on your phone for an extra $5 a month on the channel that should be letting me watch football on my TV.

This is the last straw with Verizon and the outrageous bills every month. Totally messed up my Thanksgiving... Have to pay extra for bandwidth that will allow me to stream and still paying monthly for a G router. Comcast here I come.

What a horrible idea. I just went to watch a program and what I paid for is gone. It is pretty bad that such an important channel can be just cut.

What am I going to get 20% back because they cut my service? I am thinking that another solution in my house may be coming along soon. I am totally dissapointed, and feel that I am being taken.

Higher cost for our customers - yeah right. It would seem that it is a fair market and should have been negotiated better if they can't afford what I signed up for. The cost should be going down. The quality is certainly going down in my estimation.

Despite reports that Verizon plans to pull the plug on WFXT Fox25 from FiOS TV on Thanksgiving Day, a Verizon spokesperson points out that the station's new owner, Cox Media Group, is the one doing the pulling. As in pulling the wool over viewers' eyes.

"Cox has the ability to remove their station from our network. We can't pull the plug; only they can," said Phil Santoro of Verizon.

According to Santoro, when Cox took over the station last month, the Atlanta-based outfit asked Verizon to pay a rate more than double the rate Verizon currently pays for other Cox-owned stations, and an even greater increase over the fees Verizon was paying to the previous owner of the station, Twenty-First Century Fox.

"That amounts to many millions of dollars," Santoro said. "They are threatening to remove their channel from the FiOS network if we don't pay it. ... We will not give in to Cox's demands for unreasonable rate increases, which could impact our customers."

While he did not disclose the actual cost, he said Cox is seeking a price substantially higher than what Verizon pays for the other local TV stations, such as WCVB-TV, WHDH-TV, and WBZ-TV.

Verizon has released a video on YouTube that explains the negotiation process with Cox.

Local viewers could miss the Turkey Day clash between the 8-3 Cowboys and the 8-3 Eagles if terms cannot be met. Sunday's Patriots game against the Packers will air on CBS.

A spokesperson from Cox Media could not immediately be reached for comment.

Actually Verizon's failure to negotiate pulled the plug. Sorry no warning on Thanksgiving just an email and the stupid constant message on the former fox network messed up a traditional Thanksgiving. I am a customer of Verizon at over $200 per month they are who I blame and will drop. My original post was edited by Verizon before it was posted here and I see other posts here that are likely thinly veiled company reps posing as forum members. Pretty bad poor Verizon.

This is rediculous. One of my major everyday stations. Comcast has it and they have much better free TV on demand movies. Fios has nothing to offer for free on demand movies. Comcast gave us SO much more years ago. Well I think it is time to give comcast a call to see what they have. They broke our contract as I am not getting what is on my channels line-up. It's not like this is some channel nobody watches. I cut Verizon wireless after 20 plus years and now going to cut the cable. Anyone that want to get out of a contract will be able to.

I am tired of being overcharged and screwed with. Verizon, we had a legal agreement for you to provide a tier of TV service including Fox. Your problems negotiating with them are not OUR problem - suck it up and lose a tiny bit of your gigantic profit.

I was outraged when I found you cut off Fox and caused us to miss the most traditional football game of the year, and even more so when you turned off your customer service lines so you wouldn't have to take our complaints.

Tomorrow I will be writing my Mass state representives, the White House, and the FCC and use this as an example of exactly why ALL of the telcos need to be regulated and why we need more competition and less of this monopoly **bleep**.

we are all FED UP WITH IT. And I'm going to do something about it, and not just sit there.

I suggest all FIOS customers do the same - write the same people I am going to and make your opinion heard. We already have the fiber - lets see if we can force the government to open it up. I'm sure Google would love to provide a competetive service over my FIOS fiber.

It is disappointing that a major station such as this is off the air. No local news or NFL. I pay almost $200/mo for your service and this is one of the most often watch station for news, shows and sports.

I am paying more for Verizon FIOS triple play than what I'd pay Comcast/Xfinity for comparible service. So tell me Verizon - Why the hell should I keep you?

Just another example of Verizons' lack of customer service. REally dropping access to a major network that carries the NFL. Everyone on teh planet knows the NFL is the king money maker in media. Why not drop the redunant ABC affiliate or some of the other cable channels that very few people watch.

You need to complain about BOTH parties. COX the owner of the channel for asking twice what they get for similar stations, and Verizon. Note compared to some other Cable/satellite owners, Verizon has a better record of coming to agreement on these retrans deals.

As witnessed by the previous posts, people don't want to listen to logic. All they do is blame Verizon.

Although I do see some people complaining to FOX25 on their FB page.

Preplanning by FOX 25. Similarly for lots of other channel providers in their agreements. They tend to pick the expiration date so that there will be lots of pressure on your TV service provider to renew.

Verizon doesn't care about customers. They blame somebody else because they choose to let their customers do without channels they already pay for. Verizon has not offered any credit for loss of channels. It's all about the money. Shame on you Verizon. Cox is playing the game too. They demanded more money for what used to be free. That's why the commercials are there right....so the channel is free?

The point is that we have a contract with Verizon, not with Cox. It is not my responsibility to call Cox and let them know that they should negotiate with Verizon. It is my responsibility to pay for a service that I purchased and it is Verizon's responsibility to provide that service.

This corparate greed by verizon is unbelievable. Verizon is running a 30-second "political" commerical on fox25 to get us to believe that they are the "good guys" - that it's Cox that's being greedy. Well, if every other carrier has an agrrement with Cox to air Fox25, I find it hard to believe that Cox is the the problem. The "political" commerical is saying the Verizon will need to raise our rates. Give me a break - I am already paying more than any reasonable person should expect to pay to watch TV.

I went to Verizon for the quality of the picture; however, excellent quality picture on stations that I don't care about is not a great deal. I will easily take a little less to be able to watch stations that I care about. My Verizon contract is done. My Verizon contract is done. I am sorry Verizon but I think that I am going back to Comcast.
