Moved my Set Top Box to another room and it's not working!

Hello,

I just moved a TV to my guest room. I moved the set top box and plugged everything in and the screen is fuzzy black and white. Is there something I am missing?? Something special that needs to be set up?? The TV and box worked fine in the room we moved in from, but in this room it is not working.

Thank you so much to anyone who can help! My sister is coming in the morning and I will feel bad if I don't have TV in there for her!

and we did try the"How to reset your Set-Top Box to fix common problems" and our time wouldn't ever come up on the box.

Since you can see the STB menu i will assume the in-bound coax is plugged into the correct port on the back of the STB and you've connected the wire to the TV. Are you able to confirm if the COAX from the wall is indeed connected to a splitter which connects to the Verizon ONT?

fuzzy screen could mean that you are simply on the wrong input.

but more critically, you say that you dont even get a clock. this is more important. Because with no clock, it means the box is not getting a signal.

Possible problems...

1. Input cable connected to wrong connector. Make sure that the coax from the wall to the stb is connected to the one that says "RF IN" or "Fios TV IN".

2. Input could be disconnected from Verizon. Did they connect this room to the Verizon system? Has it worked in this room previously?

3. Could be a bad coax cable. If possible, try changing out the coax from the wall to the stb. (should be an RG6 coax cable)

When the input is connected and working properly, you should get a clock with the proper time. THEN we can check the signal to the tv. But until that is working, no need in checking everything else.

Sounds like that room's coax is not connected to your ONT. Typically Verizon will only connect active jacks (i.e. rooms with STBs or TVs) to the splitter out of the ONT to prevent signal degradation (sending a signal to every room in the house even though two jacks are actually in use).

I am having the same exact problem. What is the way to fix it? I need Fios for dummies please. Thanks
