I just found the new On demand set-up. Great work- you made a simple fast thing into a slow cumbersome one. Is there any way I can at least kill the icons and get a simple text menu set-up back? What you have created is really not an improvement. It may be good for a teeny screen but it should not be a part of TV via a set top box. It is cumbersome and less user friendly.
Very bad job Verizon 😞
I have to agree, the new menu is truly terrible; almost beyond explanation. Perhaps I could learn to deal with it, but one of my essential features is now gone. The movie releases new this week was very helpful in that I didn't have to plod through the whole new releases list which appeared to have a definition of new that consisted of a considerable length in time.
However, the biggest blow was the loss of my bookmarks. Yes, I can find the bookmarks folder under my stuff, but the entries I made are gone. This was my main source for selecting movies to watch.
I don't see how this new setup will increase participation, thus revenue, assuming that was the objective. That is normally the objective of a business.
OK, this is my second post on this topic. Got home from work, had dinner, a little prep work for tomorrow and wasted 30 minutes trying to fond something to watch. I hope the management at Verizon realizes that TV is a form of entertainment which people use to relax after a day of work. I DO NOT NEED TO GET AGGRAVATED WHENEVER I TURN ON THE TV. I pay for HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, The Movie Channel, Epix & Starz and get frustrated trying to find something to watch!!! This is what drives customers to the competition!
Some questions:
Who designed this mess
Who manages the department that designed this mess
Did upper management review and approve this mess
Did a focus group use and approve of this mess
Is there any way to find out if anyone from Verizon sees these posts? And is there any way to forward some to them?
This is mainly a peer to peer support forum.
Verizon does not comment on posts here.
If Verizon doesn't monitor this forum then why provide any answer. Verizon is supposed to solve these issues not the customer. The VOD menu was design is horrible and barely functions.
the worst looking as well as using 'update' that fios has ever done. MUCH harder to do anything or find anything. HATE IT !
Call 1-800-837-4966. Then Tech Support. The new VOD is terrible. I can't believe that anyone would think this is an improvement.
I totally agree with you! I just had the most frustrating experience with this new interface for On Demand. I HATE IT!!! Also, the episodes and extras such as Bravo's Last Chance Kitchen and This is Us Aftershow is so far behind now that it is ridiculous. I called and they said there was nothing they can do about it! Please bring back the old interface and up-to-date shows on demand.
If you ever get answers to your questions, count me in on voicing my complaints.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING, THIS NEW MENUE IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM LOOKING INTO COMCAST.
I wasn't sure where to leave feedback. If this is the wrong area, please move it to the correct area. The new on-demand design is a dramatic change from the old version. The presentation is nice, but trying to find what I want to watch is tedious. For example, and something I used to do frequently, is browse specific networks or premium channels for TV or Movies. These have been split up now, I have to go to "TV" and then go find the network and then browse for shows. And then I have to leave that, go to "Movies" find the network, browse the movies. It seems like a step backwards as far as "ease-of-use". The speed (or loading) of menus and graphics is slow (at least on my HD-MR-DVR). I haven't yet checked to see if I have the option to use the old version, but I would do it if it's an option. I'd like to hear if other people feel the same way.
The new On Demand and Guide system stinks. Why can I only see 3 days out on the DVRguide and in my DVR scheduled recordings? Makes if hard to record shows when you are going away but you can only see 3 days worth of information. It use to be 2 weeks!!
Verizon does not read messages in the forums but anyone who wants to complain about this horrific new VOD roll out should submit it through "feedback". The tab is located on the right side of the page towards the bottom of the scroll bar.
The recent change to on demand seems terrible to me. My opinion is everything is more difficult to find. Was therte any customer input on this?
It is terrible!! Youe should get customer input before making changes like this. It is more difficult and time consuming to find what you are looking for. Not customer friendly.
Shocked is how I can best describe how I felt when WITHOUT WARNING, VerizonFios updated for no discernible reason its On Demand tech, so that instead of finding programs by typing in a title or name, we have to scroll through the most recent (which means what, exactly?) or EVERYTHING, by video, wasting time and battery power. What was the point of fixing what was not broken?
Specfically, this upgrade left out Bravo's Top Chef's Last Chance Kitchen, a major part of Bravo's MOST-watched show. If you're going to 'upgrade,' make sure you get it right.
I dont see what the big deal is, yeah it changed and its differant but its another thing to get use to, I dont mind it at all and kinda like it.
Certainly they had customer input on this. And a few things were improved, e.g. series number and version are now shown instead of just the last date it was broadcast. But yes it would have been nice if they did a beta with customer feedback instead of rolling it out the way they did.
Does anyone know if you can disable the large Icons on the new interface? Although this seems like a good idea, the icons are too large. Also, the new experience is very slow. I think I am going to have to buy new batteries for my remote for all the scrolling to the right I now have to do. At least give us a choice between disabling or choosing a size like Large-Medium-Small.
Thanks
Bring back the old "ON DEMAND" menu. This new "ON DEMAND" is just terrible. Very slow and I am starting to lose my patience. This new system is not progress.
Leave things alone. If it isn't broke don't fix it especially this way. Whoever decided to change the "ON DEMAND" menu should be removed and relocated to a new position. Thank you.
I know I am not the first to say this--in fact the other thread is now locked, probably because of so many complaints. But the On Demand upgrade is 2 steps back. I had Comcast 8 years ago and was frustrated that I couldn't just type in what show I was looking for. Then I switched to FIOS and was SO happy to find that keypad. Well, now it's gone! If I missed a show, I could click on the OD button, scroll up to "search", then type in the show. It would show me when it was on again, and I could then record it. Now, I went to do that and I had to find TV shows, then go to S-T, which listed 500 shows. I had to then scroll through all the S shows, then all the T shows till I got to "The Y....." which was near then end. Went to show 500--and didn't find it. So I went to try again---found the listing, but it was only showing the day before's episode. And no listings for future shows. Luckily I remembered when I was on later that night, went to the guide, scrolled to 7 pm, and kept scrolling till I found the other channel it was on. This is completely ridiculous, and is such a waste of time evern if I could find the same content. But, the info is no longer available anymore. FIOS needs to get their act together because many customers are threatening to leave. Not only that, but there is no where to send an email anymore. There used to be. The automated chat is a waste of time. The forums only let you know how many other people are upset. No solutions. Very frustrating. I am serioiusly considering switching back to Comcast!
I agree.. What a mess the new system is..HORRIBLE!!
Atleast my contract is up and if the menu isn't fixed I can always switch to another provider

I agree! Is there anyway to revert back to the old system? Instead of movie pictures can we get a simple list?? This is just ridiculous...
The new On Demand format is seriously flawed. I began a list of my issues. When I had 3, I called. Was on hold for more than an hour and a half. I figured that a lot of other people were having trouble. Finally hung up. Will try again.
Lousy, lousy, lousy re-vamp of the On Demand menu. Saved searches are now cached with browsing searches. Older menu was at least a little intuitive, this menu update was pushed to FIOS DVR's in a broken state. Absolute garbage. At least try an opinion poll before unleashing this muck on your customers. As previous poster ranted, if it ain't broke don't fix it. It sure could use fixing now.
Did anyone consider ease of use? Many additional steps to find what you are looking for, additional shows on list just make it more cluttered and difficult to navigate, and finally the show images delay search as they continuously refresh. Just bad design from top to bottom.
Please understand that Verizon does not care about this at all. They will not do anything about it. There are simple reasons for the changes, they are made to make people buy more stuff first and foremost, not to provide usefull functionality. And they are now laid out to work best on a tiny screen. Those huge clumsy unhelpful on a TV icons work great on a smart phone where smaller text gets lost.
The only way the TV user community will ever get them to change things is if it hurts Verizon in the pocketbook. Vote against this new ssyem by refusing to buy anything that requires one to use this feature to do so. Maybe that will get their attention? And then with the money you save, take the family out for a nice meal or a night at the movies.
I do not buy extras ever from my TV provider, I do not rent movies etc. I do use On Demand, or I did until now. Its now really to diffuclt to use. So any ads I might have viewed via On Demand, I now will never see.
Also missing from HBO now
I guess I'm joining with the multitudes who have expressed displeasure and frustration with the new VOD menu. Cumbersome and difficult to scroll through, no separate list of "recently added" content specifically for premium channels, hard to read graphic "boxes" identifying content (as opposed to old lists). I can go on and on...but others already have. It has picked up all of the bad things from Netflix.
In fairness, I will give praise to the "My Stuff" function, which, while also mimicing Netflix, allows you to pick up a series where you left off.
I would urge Verizon to re-think this "upgrade", or at least provide options for those of us who are unhappy.
Can you change back to the old on demand menu? The new one is to difficult to navigate.
