Science Channel dropped as of 4/26/2022

Just found out after going down the Verizon 'chat' rabbit hole that I no longer have the Science Channel.  It was dropped and NOBODY told me it was happening.  Watched it last night, and today, 'poof' it was gone.  What the heck?  Verizon needs to restore it to the packages it was removed from.

They actually sent a tech out to troubleshoot the issue instead of just owning up to the fact they dropped the channel.  The tech told me they moved it to the ultimate package.  This is the game they are playing.  Have the contract expire..drop the channel...bring it back in a higher package..  I told Verizon I am paying for a package with this channel and I expect it back in my packge.

OMG the chat line is so full of  poor over seas sales people . when I brought up is it still listed as offered in Extreme HD all they would do is pass me to another poor overseas sales person. FOUR TIMES same game. Txted twice to validate me. Verizon needs to update channels in packages offered as they are WRONG apparently. Science Channel not in them. but listed.

There are so many people that this losing channels with no credit back for them on our plan is and now wanting more money to get them by back! Isn't this extortion? We have a contract that binds us with the packages we signed up for. Do we have any recourse in this situation? They've even disengaged my Fios messages so I can't email them and complain about this. Wow...what a riot...I've had them for over 10 years now. Do we, as paying customers have an legal recourse to get the channels back without more fees because we have a contract.

Discovery+ owns the stations that have been moved to the more expensive package, my guess is they're hoping that instead of paying Verizon we'll just subscribe to Discovery+ for $4.99/month. I have zero intention of doing so and really hope this scheme backfires on them.

This is a really bad move! Seems any network that becomes popular is taken away to make more profit. I have been paying Verizon for 25 years and you just eliminated one of my favorite channels. This is making me rethink all the paid channels I already have and can probably do without.

I am very angry and upset.  I need to drop Fios.  This was one of the few channels I watch regularly ... most of the others are junk!  What is the reason for this unannounced removal?  I was shocked when I tried to watch it the other day and ... poof .. it was gone.

After being with Fios for over 12 years, I think I am going to be switching to T-Moble, Starlink, or maybe Comcast. I don't want to give my hard-earned money to a company that treats its loyal customers this way.

Utterly disgusted right now. I myself don't watch TV, but they just took away a channel with out telling ANYONE!!! Now my 75 year old veteran father doesn't get one of his favorite shows anymore. Calling Comcast and DISH in the morning to see what they offer.  What's even more disgusting is it still shows as being availible on the preferred HD package on their site... 🤔

Maybe if you people would read your messages on your cable box you would see they were going to remove it, it was sent over a month and a half ago.

Maybe a lot of  customers are hard working & just turn on to relax and watch channels that r supposed to b available & weren't aware of messages on "the box". Why not send an email or w/u'r bill -

put a message where a majority of  customers would actually see it

there was no messages sent... i check my messages at least once a week... there is nothing in there. i called them today my self and the guy i talked too had no clue they moved it to a different package. so if they dont even know what makes you think someone sent out messages to the customers ?

I (and others I saw posted) received messages on their Set Top Box. Is that where you checked?

In addition, they have put messages on bills before.

I checked mine and didn't see a message. But I was not affected by the change so not sure if mill messages are targeted (STB messages are not)

I did not see it… maybe that type of messaging on CB is junk!

I’ve been on Verizon for over 25 years. Lately, they keep giving me more and more cost reasons to quit. This may just do the trick! What happened, they find out many people watch SCI channel, so now we have to pay them more money?

Hah...they had to drop it as it was so much work filling up each hour with even more ads.  Verizon is a joke, but then all the channels, well, most all, are a joke.  I think most of the entertainment is is watching how this collection drives away their dwindling population of customers.  Presumably they will run the operation into the ground.  I think all television is doomed anyway, as I don't know how many people are left who can be duped into paying hundreds of dollars a month for the opportunity to watch mostly spam interspersed with trash programming.  I have started looking around for alternatives.

Just chatted with a GOOD Verizon rep. These are the channels moved over to Ultimate due to higher fees being charged by the networks (I believe them): Science, Cooking, Discovery Family, Destination America, American Heritage, UZM.

And she also confirmed their website isn't updated with these changes. ?????.

Luckily my contract with FOIS has expired, so it makes the decision to leave that much easier!!!

Good luck everyone.

It is causing a lot of bad will among users.   It is either worth it to Verizon or they do not care.   Both are bad relative to my view of this company.

Hmmmmmm…so I noticed this and thought maybe my set box needed to be rebooted, since I’ve been having issues with it lately. I rebooted, the initial download did its thing and I went to the channel, click OK to find out if this channel is part of my package, since it used to be, and it brought me to Upgrade Recommendations where I can upgrade my TV plan to Ultimate HD. The cost is showing as $0.00 more per month. I don’t know if I should trust this message or not.

Keep us posted.  I dropped my TV and Phone.  I bought a ROKU - and will subscribe and pay for the channels I want.  OAN, SCI, Epoch Times, etc.  My bill will be less each month.  Thankful to Verizon for the push that my friends have already made.

I just did the same thing.  I've dropped the TV and will just get the couple of streaming services that I want, such as Discovery+, and Disney+.
