Unable to stream local NBC Sports Games

I have MORE Fios and am unable to stream NBC Sports Boston local content.  This is something I've done for years using my Fios credentials and since I changed to MORE Fios it no longer works.  I get the following errors:

Mobile - "this team's live video is not included with your package"

Website - "It looks like your TV subscription does not provide access to this service. Please contact your TV provider for more information."

So far Verizon support has been useless.  NBC Sports was also useless and told me it was a Verizon issue.

It may have something to do with licensing or some similar legal aspect. 🤔 

I'm not versed in the legal side of things, but broadcasting via cable television may be covered by a different set of rules and legal agreements than live streaming over the Internet. 🤔

Call billing and get them to straighten it out. It isn't a Technical issue.

It certainly doesn't seem like a billing issue. I am subscribed to the channel. It works on my TV.  It works on Fios Mobile.  However I am unable to use my VZ credentials to stream it via the NBC apps.  This is something that I've done hundreds of times.  I've confirmed with support that this should work.  Are you saying the billing department can solve this issue?

Not sure what More Fios is but i have  Fios and cant watch games on Fios Mobile TV app either on NBC Sports Phila.

i can watch on my TV, but they dont work on the fios app.  Says, content not available. The channel works for pre game and commercials and then once game starts, nope.  I pay for this channel.

Thanks, yeah, all i know is that i called MLB and that person said to contact the Phillies and find out about the contract.

As soon as the game comes on, it is blocked.  Only can get commercials and pregame show on the app.

Correction to what i typed... i cant watch online either. Game is on now and doesnt work on pc.

Not sure why i cant watch the game. It is on my tv. Works on tv, but not on app or pc.

More than likely the same licensing agreement scenario  applies to app and online content delivery. 🤔

The minute a provider gets their own app, and charges for access they usually cut access to it from the cable providers so they can make money charging for it. In most cases cable providers don't charge extra for that access so it is simply dropped. Also in a given territory local games may be blacked out to streamers by the providers. Don't believe them when they try to pass on the blame. It's big money for them to charge for streaming access.

I finally got in touch with someone I know who works at Verizon who escalated my issue to the advanced tech support who resolved my issue in about 2 seconds and now everything works fine.

Please provide what they did, @magoo422 .  I spoke with Verizon tech support and they had no answer and said to contact MLB. The Verizon woman did not have much knowledge on this matter.   I did contact MLB and MLB said they dont block anything but said to call the Phillies and ask for Contracts division. MLB was quick and helpful and supportive actually, but i havent called the Phillies yet. STrange that we pay for this  channel, but can only watch games on our TV.

I don't know what they did.  I spoke to someone I know who works for Verizon, and they contacted someone they know in support on my behalf.  The case was escalated to whoever handles the back end advanced support issues and they "fixed" whatever was wrong on the back end with my account.  I don't have any more info.

Thanks. It is strange that they fixed your situation and left all others without a solution. So many others having similar issue.

Well it’s 06/ 2024 and it’s still an issue… why can’t Verizon fix this?  Earlier games were making it halfway thru and then shutting down.  Took a while to find someone who knew it was a known issue and would be resolved in a couple days… it worked fine last night, but tonight “Content Not Available.”  Frustrated!
