Verizon dropping AMC?

Watching Land of the Dead tonight on AMC and a quick white banner jumps on and off the bottom of the screen. But I caught a few words of the text. Anyone else catch it say, "Verizon being dropped by AMC" or something similar....???

I don't think we were meant to see it but I did. It lasted only 2-3 secs and was yanked fast! Are we going to be held hostage now too? I dropped Optimum because of nonsense like this. Nothing worse than the providers and networks forcing the viewers to do their dirty work for them while screwing us out of what we pay for.

I saw the same message on the screen as well. I thought I was the only one. I would so drop Verizon if this were the case hopefully it was a mistake and therefore pulled from broadcast immediately.

Being a mistake is what scares me. It's not like they meant to say Dish or another channel... So chances are it was not a mistake but what may be on the near horizon. How about it Verizon? Read these? What you not telling us....?

I am in a 2 year contract with them, but if they change my service, that should void my contract. I will leave, too! They've dropped way too many channels and raised the price!

Saw the same thing. Tried to log on to the web site they flashed but it doesnt link to Verizon like it is suppose to. If they drop it, we will drop Verizon. TV, internet, and phone.......itching to do it anyways.

Holy cow calm down. If AMC said they want $50 per subscriber, Verizon should just give it to them?. At least understand how these things work before firing off clueless commentary. Then you are the same people who complain when your bills go up. This is all part of negotiations, Verizon knows exactly how many people watch these channels. Pretty sure they wont be losing AMC.

I've just been informed that there is a possibility of you dropping AMC. 90% of my favorite programming is on AMC. I'm afraid you will losing not only myself and family as loyal customers, but also a couple of friends I've recommended Fios to as well. Please do everything in your power to keep AMC. Look at what happened to Dish when they lost them for the few weeks. It was't pretty.

I just signed 2 year agreement but am within 30 days that agreement can be cancelled so I will be cancelling verizon right now

With the amount of money I pay each month I find it difficult that one of the largest providers is finding it difficult to keep programming. I realize that both parties could be to blame here, with AMC success in recent programming they provide, perhaps they are demanding more money. But with the amount Verizon charges, how is it you all can not work this out. SAVE AMC, as without this, and is this is to show things to come with Dish (owned by Verizon, already dropped), I have plenty of opportunity to switch to other providers that will serve their clients. I can understand losing less viewed programs, but AMC? Really?

Get your act together and resolve this. Its not that you don't charge customers enough already for the services you provide. I just consolidated much of my services to Fios so that I can have one bill, sure pay a bit more but I feel for the service and convenience that I would pay. But if this does happen I will look to drop you and go back to another provider for all services, phone, TV, internet and mobile.

DON'T DISAPPOINT ME VERIZON, and hope that you monitor this and reply, let's see your customer service department react, rather than ignore the people that keep our company in business. In today's markets you need to do right by your clients while making a profit, not just focus on your earnings each quarter.

Agreed, We will go back to Comcast if AMC is dropped. I work for a government agency that works exclusively with Verizon and pays them literally millions of dollars a year. I cannot believe that AMC's networks are in any way 'raking them over the coals' with fees so badly that Verizon cannot afford the franchise.

Just found out that Verizon may drop the AMC channel...I've been a loyal bundle customer for MANY years... AMC is the channel my family watches the most. If Verizon drops AMC then I have no choice but to drop them! I will also be letting all of my family and friends that I recommended FIOS to-to drop them as well. Let's go Verizon don't be like these other carriers like DISH... They screwed up big time and are still paying for their mistake!!!!!

Agreed. I'll cancel for breach of contract as well. They are dropping all the channels in the extended basic and the ones responsible for me to even pay what I pay for their service. AMC has some of the top, award winning, programs on television. It would be totally stupid for them to drop AMC.

I also went to keepamcnetworks.com and sent several messages. I will be very upset if they go thru with this. They will loose a huge customer base just like DirectTV did.

I love walking dead and breaking bad. But I can't stand to watch them with the amount of commercials they put on the channel these days. If Verizon wants to drop them because their demanding more money let them. Ill still be watching the shows on Netflix and iTunes.

They just installed FIOS in my community and I signed up immediately - been on just over a month and am happy.

One of the requirements I made before moving from my previous provider was that AMC was offered.

I will cancel my FIOS bundle and return to Comcast as soon as Verizon drops AMC - contract or not.

I switched from Cablevision to Verizon Fios one year ago. Up until now I have been happy with Fios. AMC is one of my favorite channels. Dropping AMC will make me rethink this change and will result in my change back to Cablevision. Even if I will pay more. I absolutely do not want to lose this channel

When I made the decision to swaitch to Verizon from Comcast a couple of years ago one of the requirements was the AMC channel. Now I hear rumor that Verizon might make the same mistake the DISH network did by droppinf AMC. This would be a HUGE mistake. I am 100% positive that I won't be the only one who cancels Verizon. Comcast is still available in my neighborhood and they are offering some sweet deals for Verizon customers to return. Dropping AMC would be just the incentive I need to go back to Comcast.

Verizon makes money hand over fist on us, if they drop amc, I will be going back to comcast. I left comcast 6 months ago, there will be an early termination fee for me, but I don't care. They will no longer have me as a customer.

I have been a loyal Verizon customer for several years and have recommended countless friends and family to Verizon, especially in recent months when Direct TV was threatening to get rid of AMC. I guarantee you that I will cancel all of my Verizon services, TV, Internet, Telephone, and Wireless phones if Verizon goes forward and cancels one of our very favorite channels.

I hope that you will reconsider this choice.

So Verizon my drop AMC. I assume due to a new contract negotiation. So AMC is probably asking for more money on a new contract. In my experience I cannot think of a contract I've had with a company that the cost stayed the same or heaven forbid went down.I have been a customer of Verizon and then Verizon Fios for many years now and not once has my cost of services stayed the same or gone down.I now pay over $230.00 dollars per month for their services. Let's see If my math doesn't fail me, that's over $2,700. dollars per year. You know any way you cut it that's alot of money.I wonder out of all that money how much am I paying for hundreds of TV stations I have never spent even a millesecond watching. My advice to Verizon is drop some of these unbelievably small viewer stations and make up the difference for AMCs price increase.As a matter of fact why don't you do something really inovative and offer all your channels alacarte and let your customers decide what they want to pay for. Because at the end of the day you brag and advertise all the stations you have, but we all know nobody watches 90% of that crap. Let me decide if I want to pay for AMC or not. Not you! However barring that. Or settling this. If I miss even one episode of The Walking Dead I will be taking my car payment I pay you somewhere else. And Oh by the way the extra one or two dollars per subcriber it take to settle this better not be passed down to me as a five or six dollar increase in my bill. Or bye-bye.

I have been a Verizon Fios customer for over two years. I have enjoyed the services I have received with no complaints.

One of the biggest benefits I have enjoyed is having the lengthy list of channels and programs to chose from. The most important of the cable channels being AMC. Their programming is second to none and we are loyal watchers of many of the AMC programs: Mad Men, Walking Dead and the Killing. We have enjoyed them so much we have purchased some them on Blue Ray. If Verizon discontinued offering AMC and WE tv we would immediately seek out alternative cable options and discontinue cable service with Verizon.

I would appreciate Verizon doing everything it can to continue providing customers with these valuable services.

I feel same way. AMC has the best programing. I was just thinking how great these shows on AMC were, then got the message on my screen. if the require more dough to run superior programing then its worth it compared to most of the trash out there. I give verizon almost three hundred a month for cable, phone and, I.T. comcast will love my money.

I couldn't agree more on we should see how much AMC is charging. The reason I say that, I hate AMC because of the commercials but for the last decade watch it on DVR, skipping commercials.

But the point that needs to be brought is the fact that there isn't a week that goes by that AMC is not in conflict with some cable outfit. Last month it was a big struggle with Dish Network, the month before it was Comcast. So my point is why is AMC and it's channels the one's that cable networks have conflicts with? We don't see TMC or TNT or Fox having problems, but each month AMC is in the news about getting dropped.

I have a feeling that AMC not only asks too much but has channels that nobody has every heard of like Sundance and WE that are part of the package and cable networks are stressed over pay too much for channels that nobody watches. Who does watch IFO or WE or Sundance, why should we pay even if it's just dimes a month for something we don't want.

Honestly I am not a big fan of AMC but again every now and then will tune in just like I did now in watching the movie Notthing Hill. I recorded it and watching it, skipping through the endless commercials that are a part of AMC.

So my thought to Verizon, I hope you can work out something with AMC but understand that the company could be way too greedy so if they are dropped, honestly it won't be missed. Oh one thing AMC doesn't tell you that is a big problem for cable networks, they stream all of there programs so if AMC goes away you can watch it for free on their website.

Because AMC is part of Rainbow Media, Which is controlled by the Dolan family, who also own / control CableVision, a direct competitor of all the aforementioned other cable / FIOS / Sattelite companies. They believe in NEVER give your competitors a break. This is one reason we have regulation, to prevent this type of anticompetitive behavior. Controlling both distribution and content leads to this.

So , it seems to me that no matter what we think or say verizon will act according to themselves, years ago, amc was not even a problem ,that channel was autimatically given in the line up **bleep**, do we have to fight for basic channels now? and pay through the nose anyway for crap we don,t want? i,am not even going to worry about this if they drop amc i will drop them sorry no sweat here!!!
