QIP7232-2 FIOS DVR
I have had this DVR for about a year and it's been almost flawless until recently. For the past couple weeks it will intermittantly freeze or lock-up while changing channels. It can take up to 20 seconds for it to respond to any keys while in this condition. You just have to wait for it to respond. It's getting really annoying.
Anyone else having this problem ?

Thanks for notifying us .This issue was inadvertently caused by a new ad deployment system. You should see some improvement in the next 2 weeks as we are disabling this capability on many channels.
We will be deploying a software fix on all your set top boxes between November 26 to January 7 across all FIOS markets which should resolve this issue fully. Thanks for your patience.

I received data object version number 34.47 and I am no longer having the issue. However, it was sporadic for me, so I'll report back in a few days. I'm in VHO 02 (Florida).

According to another forum, the update is to the "Platform Version" and not the other numbers. The Platform Version is only visable in the hidden service menu.
To access this menu:
1 - Turn the TV & FIOS box on
2 - On the box itself, press: Pwr, OK, OK quickly - you should now have a white service menu screen
3 - Press the arrow down button to D08 and press OK
4 - Version Number 25.38 Apr 07, 2012 (old) > Version Number 25.39 Oct 22, 2012 (new)
5 - Press Pwr to exit this hidden menu
Some people have claimed to have received this new version and they say the channel change issue is fixed. This update is released according to your VHO (location).

I will repeat what I have said here previously: I have the fix, I have had it for over a month now, and yes, at least for me, it has fixed the problem.
And yes, the fix is apparently being distributed to one or a few VHOs at a time. Multiple VHOs have already received the fix, others will get it over time, hopefully quickly, because the problem is a real annoyance, as we all know.
It really is pointless to keep posting here complaining about the problem or asking about a solution, Verizon knows there is a problem, they have developed a fix, and it is being distributed. You will get it automatically, there is no need for anybody to do anything (other than I guess to sit back and wait, complaining here or calling tech support will not speed the process up).

I will add that I have not noticed the problem in about three or four weeks in any of our three boxes. I am also in North Texas and they seem to have updated our boxes. So, VZ is apperently working on the issue. I know how frustrating this has been, but to their credit, at least they are working on the problem.
BTW, I finally figured out how to get into my hidden menu. In my box, turned on the tv and box. Turned off the box with my remote and then hit ok, ok to get the white menu.
D8 indicated platform version 25.39, Oct 22 2012.

Checked and here in west Philly we're still 25.38 yet there has been a big improvement over the past month with the issue only being on start up. Do hope 25.39 will finally make this issue go away for good.

You are so WRONG. It's great that Verizon knows about the problem but many of us have had the problem for over a month and it's NOT BEING fixed.
Why would I be happy waiting weeks for something to be resolved. Now I try to plan ahead to change channels but waiting from 20 - 40 seconds for a channel change is crazy.
I just want it fixed.

It appears they've updated VH02 (Florida). I haven't had the problem for several weeks now.

Thank you, Travis, for the update. However, will this also fix the hangups in the VOD menus? I often get times when remote inputs do not take effect on the VOD menu, but seem to backlog, and are then input all at once. The average delay is around 30 seconds or so until the multiple inputs are executed. This is on the new VOD menu. Thank you.

When we switched from Optimum, we did so to save some money and because we were tired of their slow STBs. At this point, neither of those remains as an incentive, and we have no contract forcing us to stick with FIOS. So if this isn't going to get resolved quickly and if Optimum manages to send us an attractive enough offer, we may well switch back again.

As Justin has posted , there is a fix, and it is being distributed as time permits. Verizon NEVER sends out an update to all areas at one time. 1.91 showed the issue, and yes you will still have 1.91 with the fix. What they are doing, is sending out a new build of the 1.91 img. go back and read through this thread. Starting with Justin's post. Everyone posts, but no one reads.See below.

Both my neighbors and my response time has slowed and frozen in the last couple of months. I may change to another service provider when my contract is up. I believe verizon has an upgrade to faster speed but I will not pay money for it. Why should I apy for uprade when it does not work on regular speed not.

Are you talking about TV DVR response problems in this post? It sounds like you are talking about internet, and this thread is about a performance problem with Verizon's DVRs.
If you are talking about internet performance you need to go find the correct Board to post in. If you are talking about DVR performance, maybe a little clarification would be in order.

My dvr has been locking up for several months- frustrated- spent hours on phone with tech support and this known issue was never mentioned as possibly being months to resolve. At least once the techs told me to change my remote batteries, even after telling them the batteries were new and had been replaced. I quit calling about it cuz I didn't have more hours to spend on the phone when what I wanted was a little TV relaxation time.
"no video signal" on start up for a minute or so, finally loads- then I can adjust channel sometimes about every 30 seconds, ( guide or just changing channels) other times freezes and Only way I have gotten correction is extremely inconvenient...Only resolves with cutting power supply and reboot entire system. Volume control and power on off always continue working.I can't believe I am paying 200/ month for a system that won't be resolved till January. Perhaps it should be free till then, since clearly using the ad server is more important than taking care of customer experience!

I hope I'm not speaking out prematurely, but for the very first time this morning in many months, after I turned on my TV and changed to a different channel, I experienced NO channel lag. My TV has been on for the past couple hours now, and not one delay so far....by now, I would typically have at least two 30 second or so delays upon changing channels..........keeping my fingers crossed!!!

We too have noticed that the problem is close to being resolved. We now rarely see the issue. Sure am glad they fixed this. What an annoying issue....just goes to show how we have become addicted to instant response from electronics.

You assume too much Rudy81. It's not fixed where I live. Read the thread title again and notice the word "intermittent".
BTW, where is the thread about the extremely annoying motion stutter that I've had to live with for oh about 3 years now? Three different STB's, SD or HD, it doesn't matter.

Sorry, but it is NOT fixed. For a few days the problem seemed to get better then last night and this morning BAM, over a minute to change the channel.

I spoke too soon also. The intermittent channel delay is still present. It took almost 1 minute to change to a different news channel on election night tonight. Still very annoying, and it has been over two weeks since the Verizon employee stated that this issue should improve in a couple of weeks. On top of this, many times when Verizon displays local advertising commercials, my TV loses sync (screen goes black, and my input ID, "hdmi-1", gets displayed on the top of the screen), and then loses sync again when normal programming returns. There is no smooth transition between normal channel programming and local advertising commercials. My Verizon 7232 DVR is hiccupping. (:
