Anyone from verizon FiOS - please advise the actual date of Fox Soccer Channel HD availability date.
Or at least the aproximate date
Thanks
Not a Verizon employee but Verizon almost never announces in advance when something will be deployed (new channels, IMG, or whatever).
Best answer is when you see it in your guide then that will be the date (and not trying to be a wise guy, just relating 4 years of experience).
I've heard rumors (and I emphasize the word "rumors") that some new channels may be coming on the 17th. Guess we'll wait and see. Could be FSC, BET, and TRU...maybe even FearNET, if the Spotlight magazine is any indicator.
If FSC is deployed on the 17th, perhaps it is being tied to the promotion of the start of the MLS Season. Sure hope so. It's been far too long.
Hopefully FSC+ will be available in HD as well. I really hate paying $15.00 per month for SD.
Could someone from FIOS give us some feedback on this? It's a shame that DirecTV has this chanel in HD over the air and FIOS TV, with 'state of the art' Fiber Optic cannnot transmit this channel in HD
Even TWC has FSC HD, FS+ HD and GolTV HD ... it's clear that Verizon is not the best provider out there.
Can someone from Verizon give us an estimated date range? It can be a month, quarter or even year.
Also, I keep seeing this famous 'list of channels to be added'
A number in a list does not mean anything in terms of timeframe.
Could you please publish the list?
I do not understand why it is so hard to provide a date.
It's not like there are things to consider that are out of your control.
The channel(s) are already transmitted in HD.
FSC HD is a high prioritychannel addition and we are currently working to make it available.
TruTV HD, BET HD next then E! HD and FSC HD (subject to change)
subject to change? They already did that when they bumped footie HD. I got it I got it I ain't got it.
This is really ridiculous how long it takes to get FSC and other HD channels added. I was told 3 months ago by FIOSTV on twitter that FSC was next to go to HD. Now it's bumped back to 4th and who knows how much further down it will go or even when more HD capacity will be added. By the time it is added all of the CL and EPL matches will be done for the year. As many have said on this forum and twitter Verizon could really manage the expectations with a simple communication about an estimated timeline, even if they say 3rd quarter or another far off date.
Now FSC is in group 2 to become an HD channel? So wasn't this channel bumped off a prior group that became HD and now has been pushed back from the next group to the group after that? Don't know why Verizon is keeping the launch such a deep dark secret.

The biggest problem is that this is a peer-to-peer forum. While there are a few employees that visit occasionally, there is no official presence here. Twitter seems to be where Verizon is putting out information. All you are going to get here, is those of us that have heard rumors.

And all you'll get there is the marketing spin that Twitter Joe spews which is rarely accurate.
Just to keep things in perspective-
Those constantly starting new threads about FSC HD are in the vocal minority. In reality, most FiOS customers aren't affected by FSC HD because they'd never watch it, because they'd never watch soccer. Can you really blame Verizon for adding channels with higher ratings, and probably channels that are cheaper to add? Given the fact that FSC HD still hasn't been added, I'm sure Verizon has held off due to some considerable costs.

I will add my 2 cents here. I watch a lot of sports, but have little use for FSC HD. I'm sure I'll have more reason to watch Tru, BET or E! - and I know I'm not the only one that feels that way. I think soccer fans are very fanatical about their sport and really want it in HD. But the truth is that soccer is just not that popular in the US and these other channels will get far more viewers than FSC HD.

@bobbo527 wrote: Sorry but I could NOT disagree with you more. Soccer is a lot more popular in the US than you obviously think. Sorry but I'd rather watch an EPL fixture in HD on FSC than waste a single second of my life watching the lame brained Kardashians or some other mind numbingly stupid reality show on E! The same with Tru Crap TV, now that the tourney is over that channel could go for all I care.
While I agree with you regarding some of the bad programming out there, soccer is definitely not that popular in the U.S. Nor is FSC, despite the very loud and numerous comments from fans.
Some facts and numbers from From August 2010:
For the first 14 MLS games televised by ESPN2 this season, the average viewing audience is 251,000. And these are for games that are shown during mostly prime-time hours. The TV ratings are so bad that the WNBA has better ratings on ESPN2. Yes, the WNBA.
During the 2009-2010 Premier League season on ESPN2, all of the top ten highest rated games had higher ratings than the average ESPN2 rating for MLS of 251,000. And that doesn't even include the record breaking audience for a Premier League game on US television last season when 526,000 people watched the 4:30am PT/7:30am ET kick-off between Manchester United and Chelsea.
Meanwhile at Fox Soccer Channel, the TV ratings for Major League Soccer are even worse with an average of just 53,000 viewers per game. In comparison, the average viewing audience for the Premier League on Fox Soccer Channel was 90,000 as of the 2008-2009 season.
Based on viewing numbers such as these, it would be no surprise if Fox Soccer Channel decides not to renew its contract with Major League Soccer to broadcast games in the future, which ends at the end of this season. Versus has been in talks with Major League Soccer regarding picking up those rights. However, it's going to be tough for MLS to negotiate a decent TV rights fee when the ratings on Fox Soccer Channel have been so poor.
got it in the philly area as of today 4/11/11
Available in Central PA, VHO 14, as of April 12.
It did not show up in the Guide for my non-DVR STB right away. However, when I manually entered the channel number, 584, the channel came on and then it started showing up in the Guide menu. Same thing happened with channel 501, MASN2.
