directv to fios

Hi,

So I have FIOS triple bundle on first TV but have directv on second tv because of commitment but i'm just gonna cancel and get another receiver for second tv. Question is when I called, I was told there'll be $79 charge for tech to come out and hook up a receiver. I think it's probably 10 min job if not less. How can I get this waived? It seems to me that just cancelling the service and reordering will be cheaper because it's free install. Any suggestion?

You can do this yourself ... they'll gladly send you a STB in the mail.

Note however that since you mention that you have DirectTV, this means that Vz would have install a separate cable plant for your Vz FiOS TV and router and isolated it from the DirectTV setup since the frequencies conflict. You'll have to be comfortable with disconnecting the satellite setup and re-terminating the outlet in that room over onto a splitter that's part of the FiOS setup.

If not, the $79.99 is the truck roll fee Verizon charges -- and the Verizon tech would then noodle out how to move the outlet over to the other cable plant or drop a new coax outlet for you.
