ethernet port in the back of Verizon fiber termination equipment

There is an ethernet port in the box that receives the fiber signal and turns it into coax (that eventually gets to the cable modem box/wireless router).

Can this ethernet port be activated as an internet connection?

Why? I have my router up in the second floor where most of my computers are. This fiber termination box is in the basement, close to my home theater equipment. Rather than buy a 2.5X more expensive blueray player with wifi, I would like to get one of the wired ones and connect it using a patch cord to the Ethernet port in the fiber box. Is this doable?

Yes it can be enabled,but it won't work for you'r case.You would need the Ethernet cable to run from the router to the Blu Ray Player. The fiber box won't be able to give you an IP address that is needed.

The ONT is a either/or configuration. If you have the ehternet turned on then the coax doesnt work.
