i recently ordered starz. i noticed that to watch a series on starz on demand you have to pay (except the recent season). just wondering if this is correct. don't have to pay to watch an old season on hbo or showtime on demand.
When it comes to vod, content is controlled by content provider.
so starz determines what episodes are free and which ones they want to charge for.
even though you have paid for the channel.
Rob, Sorry but gotta disagree with you on this one. STARZ VOD on Comcast is 100% free as long as you are a STARZ subscriber. Sounds like something is screwy with Verizon's VOD again. Ever since they changed the format FiOS VOD has been a mess and continues to be a mess.
You have to be careful when comparing.
Verizon used to keep pay content and free content seperate (as others like Comcast do).
So now people are seeing some content as free and some as pay.
I know some folks have checked other channels, and Comcast has the same free content as Verizon. I can't say for sure on Starz.
So I checked a couple of programs (Black Sail and Outlander).
None of those episodes had a $ next to them and were available for viewing.
Do you have specific shows you see as only being available for a fee?
Outlander. I wanted to check it out and the whole first season is to buy and every other episode on Season 2. I think that is a shame that I pay for all the channels and premium channels, and I cannot watch this show. I am not paying an additional 2 or 3 dollars per episode! I would rather cancel my service (at this point I can cancel all my service) and get Starz for 8.99 on Amazon and stream other premium channels online.
You can use the Starz App to stream everything they offer for free with your current FIOS subscription.
i have a subscription to STarz. Why can't I watch seasons 1 and 2 for free?
Because Starz has decided (along with others) that they can make even more money by charging users for on demand programming.
They, like others, usually have all of their programs for free on their own app.
I have Stars and I wanted to wathc Oulander season 1 and 2, I can watch it free on the app but on the tv it wants me to purchase it. If I am already paying ofr cable..why should I have to pay twice?
