I have a VMS1100 Arris set top box connected to my TV via HDMI. My TV outputs audio to a Panasonic audio system via optical audio cable. Similarly, I’ve a DVD player and XBoxOne connected to the same TV via HDMI also and audio for both works fine. But i couldn’t figure out how to output the STB audio to my audio system. I’ve tried switching HDMI cables, optical cable from STB to sound system, User Settings on the STB (LPCM, Auto, Pass Through) , cold reboot everything but still no audio coming from STB. Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Not sure why this would matter, but try swapping HDMI inputs and see if problem follows stb or stays with input.
I have a similar setup and have no issues with TV outputting audio from stb

Yeah. I swapped the Xbox and the STB input and still the same. At this point I’m pretty sure that the TV HDMI ports and cables are all fine. It may have something to do with the signal coming from the STB but can’t figure out why.

Do you have to turn TV volume up when switching between STB and XBOX?
Check the volume on your STB.
I would set it to highest and fixed.
Typically, TV output is fixed.
So if STB volume is low, it may not be registering on soundbar.
