To improve internet service, Fios removed the wi fi cable that went between the extenders and the set top boxes. Now Alexa can't communicate with the STBs as it needs wifi. Can I connect the extenders and the STBs with BOTH an ethernet cable AND a Wifi cable so Alexa can work with the STB? Will using two cables cause problems?

There is no such thing as a wifi cable. The extenders should be hooked into a 4100 mini with ethernet cable to help them get a signal if you dont have the minis hooked up with coax. You cant use both coax and ethernet connections at the same time on a mini, it's one or the other. As long as the Alexa is on the network the mini is on, you should be able to control it with the Alexa. Also look here for some how-to's:
