Fios 1 Audio control inoperable

I have a one month old NEW Fios 1 STB. There were intermittent audio failures from the first, and now the audio up/down is completely inoperable. I've tried the "auto" and "manual" resets, as well as switching between "Fixed" and "Variable" modes, rebooting after making the changes. The remote does operate all other functions, except the audio.

What is this set to?

Main Menu > Settings > Audio & Video > Audio>Volume Control

For most people it should be set to fixed, and you set up the remote to control the volume of the TV, NOT the Fios box. Try re-programming the remote using the Manual method and choose the TV as the controlled audio device.
