The Community is in Read-Only Mode as we get ready to unveil a brand-new experience. Stay tuned something amazing is on the way!
FOx Soccer will be available in HD starting in March. Please add!
MSG HD is more Cablevision's owner freezing out competitors in HD.
I wish we could get a definitive answer answer about when FSC HD is coming or if at all. The guys on Twitter says it is but has no timetable which is silly at this point. Somebody give us some answers.
Don't forget to add your vote for FSC HD here http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Share-Your-Ideas-with-Verizon/Soccer/idi-p/233315 Lets keep it the top request/suggestion. Some Twitter person was suprised initially that the votes were low, get everyone you know to vote and make it real obvious we want it, if its not obvious enough.
Heres to watching UCL tomorrow in flickery SD. I hope no-one here has epilepsy. CHEERS!!! and GOOD JOB VERIZON KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
@Darn wrote: Heres to watching UCL tomorrow in flickery SD. I hope no-one here has epilepsy. CHEERS!!! and GOOD JOB VERIZON KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
"Flickery SD"? Sounds like your TV is broken.
@Hellstorm wrote: @Darn wrote: Heres to watching UCL tomorrow in flickery SD. I hope no-one here has epilepsy. CHEERS!!! and GOOD JOB VERIZON KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!"Flickery SD"? Sounds like your TV is broken.
No its not my tv, Its a byproduct of video resizing. When you "squish" an HD feed to SD you get a lot of jagged edges if you use a cheap fast resizing filter. Its called aliasing. I wouldnt be complaining here if it was my tv. If you watched the channel you'd see what im talking about as its very distracting.
I'm with Darn. The PQ on FSC SD is sad. I often and suggest folks switch over to FSE (Fox Sports en Espanol - channel 311) when they are covering the same match. If you change the audio to Spanish you'll get the English commentary with much better PQ. I made a comment about this to the twitter guy over a week ago but he did not respond 😕
If Verizon can't provide FSC & FSC Plus in HD, I too am going to start looking for a provider who can. It seems ridiculous that a self-proclaimed leader in the field can't make it happen. The fact that ESPN provides a match/week in HD should show Verizon that it's worth doing as the support certainly seems to be there. It's ridiculous to watch matches on the FSC channels in "lo-fi" while the HD logo is prominently displayed.

Yea the provider flaunts that as Verizon fights for the right to air the HD version and the FCC does nothing. It is not Verizon's fault. I agree it should be available. Send your protests to the FCC.
The FCC has nothing to do with Verizon FiOS carrying FSC in HD. The ongoing court battle involving FCC decisions has to do with the MSG networks being available in HD.
The inability to carry FSC in HD comes simply from the limited QAM space that FiOS has available and their having to choose what programming to allocate to this space in HD. Hopefully with the addition of IPTV that FiOS is planning to utilize it will free up a lot of space for additional HD to be added in the future.
According to the FiOS rep on Twitter, FSC HD was #6 on the list of HD channels to be added. It has now been bumped to #5 he said with the recent addition of The Hub (formerly Discovery Kids) on channel 789. He also made it sound like they are adding it reluctantly but a "small but vocal minority" have made themselves heard. It was never a priority previously because he said that their stats show FSC does not have a lot of viewership
So now it becomes a waiting game of when it is added and what 4 other channels have priority before it's added. He did hint it should be before year-end but with the track record of FiOS I am not holding my breath.
Absolutely no word on Fox Soccer Plus or Gol TV so those don't seem to be in the immediate future plans.
I have no idea if Verizon checks these or not, but add me to the list who want Fox Soccer/Plus in HD. Had FSC but cancelled it after a month because it wasn't in HD and told the rep why. So we'll wait and I'll just watch one game a week on ESPN2HD and watch my club using free internet streams.
FOX SOCCER HD NOW
they appear to have fixed the PQ issues i was complaining about earlier, still would prefer HD though.
Sadly I dont think so. Chelske v Wolves are on FSC and FSE and it looks much better on FSE\311 than FSC\84. Even the PQ on Villa v S'land on FS+ looks better than FSC\84 right now 😞
requesting Fox soccer in HD. It looks ***** on a big screen tv. Any news on when it might be available.
It's unacceptable that we're still having this discussion.
Verizon........we want Fox Soccer Channel in HD now!
Please soon, soccer is painful to watch in standard def after seeing it in HD!
The HD blackout of FSC and FS+ is baffling. And it's been a long deafening silence now in response to the many requests. While I recommend FiOS to many people I always add the caveat that it doesn't have the HD soccer channels. Even people who would never watch them find the omission weird, esp. given all the other HD sports options.
Please refer to the reasonable explanation from Verizon that I posted above.
FSC HD will come in 2011.
VZ is working on creating new channel capacity - that is why it has not been added yet.
Hang tight my friends!
One more vote for FSC HIGH DEFINITION!
We know VZ is receiving FSC in High Definition. The darn little sign at right corner says so...
(I think) It is just they (Sales/Marketing) are not distributing it to the customers, stalling and waiting for the opportunity for bundling it into some new expensive package.
Well, please don't do it. Its too old and transparent trick. There may also be some law against charging (again) for what you already charge for (FSC "HD"). Just forward the real FSC HD to customers, simple, single keyboard click at your side. We know (You told us) the fiber has more than ample bandwidth for all the HD in the world, and then some...
Happy Holidays to all engineers, support and technical crews at Verizon. You guys are great, technology is impressive.
Bob, NJ
I love FIOS TV but Direct TV is putting them to shame by offering FSCHD and GOLTVHD .... I put up with no MSGHD (champions league games in hd) thanks to Dolan at Cablevision. If they don't respond and add at least FSCHD, I may have to switch to DirectTV that offers everything.
The picture quality for today's arsenal birmingham match was pathatic- you could barely see the ball and I thought I was back in 1980 well, not bad, but to see that HD in the upper corner is madning!!! You guys have 2 months to get your act togehter before I depart....I can't believe you are adding the Ophray channel *****???
1 year is enough waiting for 1 channel ... does anyone know how much is the cancelation fee a year before the contract ends?
And it won't be hard to find another provider because they all have FSC HD and GOL HD ...
I think it is at least $150 to cancel before your term ends, but not 100% sure.
There have been a lot of questions this week on twitter to @FIOSTV about FSC HD and he said it's the very next channel, but can't give a timeline. I assume it won't be until later in January when Verizon drops some existing HD channels (we got notification of one or two being dropped in mid to late January). It has sounded like FSC HD has been next for a couple of months now, hope we get it before the next round of CL matches.
I did ask too about FSC Plus HD and the answer was several more HD channels ahead of it.
I tell u it's sad because Verizon added the OWN network in HD on 01/01/2011 -> No HD capacity--> right 😉
Their response is always $$ for them.
They do not care about football (soccer). It became evident to me when they added the other HD channel NFL RedZone on 09/13/2010.
The only way to see HD soccer is to switch, plain and simple. That's my plan and I do not mine paying extra as along as I have SOCCER!
ok...i normally don't post...but here's the latest based on my conversation with call center person...i called to disconnect b/c of no FSC HD FiOS. she said she's reading from an internal website that it's coming in March....she actually read the internal announcement to me and it sounded legit like she was reading from a real document....got a few dollars off my monthly bill b/c of my dissatisfaction with FiOS re no FSC HD...i'm staying tuned.
btw i almost went with dish but that would have cost almost $200 for local phone/broadband/dish...today i pay $150 (after discounts) for triple play with FioS (30MB) and HBO/Showtimes with DVR and HD set top box...not bad
i was just hooked with fios internet, tv, and phone today but i'm extremely disappointed the quality of fox soccer channel and fox soccer plus. i'm also paying an additional $15 for a horrible standard def channel. I'm also not getting GOL TV.
Time warner provides both FSP HD and GOL TV HD for only $5.95 a month. FSC HD was part of the standard digital package.
i just contacted time warner to switch my tv service back with them.
if verizon doesn't have any more channels to give then replace the standard channel with the high def. How many fios tv customers are still using a standard def tv anyway?
They dont get it. I only use Verizon FIOS for Soccer mainly. I pay over $100 for Extreme HD + Sport package.
Well we dont get any soccer (real football) in HD while TimeWarner has it.
I am about to ditch FIOS. By the way.
Also... what about BBCAmerica in HD. It is funny (well, not so) to watch BBC America and see them advertising the HD version we can't get on Verizon!!
Verizon telemarketing keep calling me to sell me movie package...from now own I will tell them that what I want is HD soccer channels or stop bothering me with their calls.
Thanks Verizon, really enjoyed watching Champions League on FSC and FSC + in SD this week. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see it again next week with the great low quality feed you are providing us.
Update: The gears have started to move to have FSC HD go live...stay tuned...we're in the homestretch.
So, sometime in 2012 eh?!
Verizon has the worst picture quality Soccer channel in the world 😮
I like fios and the internet BUT when I watch the soccer games it undones every good thing there is in the package.
I have made my mind to switch to another cable operator, who offers FSC HD, GolTV HD and FSC+ HD, when my contract expires.
@PsUMattDE wrote: Update: The gears have started to move to have FSC HD go live...stay tuned...we're in the homestretch.
Let's hope so because as one who has had both cable and Fios I can honestly say Fios is world's better so far as PQ is concerned.
It's time FIOS, I would love to see these great games in HD .... I'm ready to switch to direct tv also - contract runs out in march ... fox soccer hd hopefully will arrive soon... also whats up with that ***** Dolan? Is he ready to give up and let you have MSG HD yet?
As a longtime FiOS customer and even longer time soccer fan, I have been patiently following this thread for over a year. I keep reading about bandwidth limits and "a resolution coming soon, very soon" but it just keeps going on and on with no end in sight.
I was willing to believe that some magical bandwidth limit was the problem, but just this week, yet ANOTHER HD channel was added to my lineup here in DFW (Channel 577 FS SW+) and the kicker is, it is off air most of the day. That is, there's no new sports programming on it until the evenings, otherwise it just runs canned stuff.
This thread is 32 pages long, THIRTY TWO. You can't say that there's no interest in this from your customers. Verizon, your unresponsiveness to your paying customers is speaking volumes about what you think of us and our business.
Yesss Verizon pls add FSC HD and FSC+ HD, the viewers have spoken, but no action from the provider.. hugely dissapointed not to see my spurs win a historical match in what looks like 280p. Pls do something or imma have to start picking up calls from directv
AT&T adds Fox Soccer Plus in HD. List of TV providers without FSC HD grows shorter - don't want to go back to cablevision but this is ridiculous.

Offered locally as part of the sports pack for 7 bucks per month. I was forced to buy HD Soccer from cable for 1 TV. I would hope Verizon gets HD up and running by the end of the Summer at the latest or I will be forced to go back entirely to my cable provider.
Fox Soccer HD fans,
I was told by FiOS Fox Soccer HD is allegedly already on the list of upcoming channels to be offered as #6, however please join me in voting by clicking on vote button by following the link below --> click vote button on upper left side, I'm hoping it might become available earlier if we all vote
Thanks

Let's bring the Fox Soccer Channel HD to FiOS!!!
As an FYI, Verizon has not even been capable of providing all regional sports in the Baltimore area in HD as does Comcast and the Sat providers. In the Baltimore area we’ve suffered through O’s and Nats games in substandard SD. Not with Comcast and Sat providers. There still no word if we will get MASN2 HD. It will be interesting. Has the demand for soccer surpassed MLB?
Verizon has issues. They have invested is an awesome fiber to the home network. Yet they are handcuffed with substandard, obsolete cable technology with in-home STBs and their VHO and Central Office equipment. Am I missing something?
I still do not understand why some DC markets received MASN2 HD in the 2010 MLB season while Baltimore area did not. And still no word on 2011. ARRRGH!!!!
In responding to the repeated requests to broadcast FSC on HD, Verizon repeatedly makes the point that soccer viewership doesn't compare to other more popular content and channels. I suppose this may be true for individual households, but its definitely not true for anyone who's been to an urban bar recently. Just yesterday, I saw the Champion's League being broadcast during happy hour in a crowded DC bar. I know that soccer is regularly broadcast in other bars across DC, and I suspect its true in many places where Verizon offers cable service. I doubt there's the same cry for a few of the channels currently broadcast in HD: Pets.TV, Cars.TV, Outdoor Channel, Palladia, World Fishing Network. And, comparing one sport for another, I have to think soccer viewship in the US now far exceeds that for tennis, but in my neck of the woods the Tennis Channel is broadcast in HD! Get with the times Verizon!
Please, please, please.
Please.
Please add FSC HD.
I made this post on some other forum but here it is again.
I entered the FiOS world yesterday finally switching from Cox in RI.
One of my main reasons for having television at all and forking over $100 a month is my love of the Beautiful Game which for those who may be ignorant to the fact is the World’s Number One Sport by a country mile.
With FiOs being advertised as being the best in the business I unwittingly assumed that I would have FSC is HD like my many friends and co-workers who have it with other service providers so you can imagine my disappointment yesterday when I tuned into the Man United v Marseille game to be greeted by a substandard blurry broadcast despite a “HD” logo being cleary displayed in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
I don’t understand why the “HD” channel is not available when there are so many other crazily obscure channels being broadcast in HD.
Soccer is a growing sport in the U.S. and is closing in quickly on the traditional big five.
It is in fact the number one Most Played Sport by Females in this country.
Many of the bars of Providence and Boston are packed week in and week out for big EPL or international games
to such an extent that you usually only see for 16 – 18 Patriots games every year.
I am going to be sticking with FiOS for the time being to see if hopefully they at least implement the FSCHD for
the start of next season come August although I would like to see it as soon as possible.
After that I will reserve my options of switching to a more up to date provider.
I see the Verizon guy has noted a few times that it is #6 on the list of channels to be added in HD.
If Verizon are concerned by the lack of interest in the sport here are some figures to get your head around.
American Football’s penultimate game the Superbowl was watched by approx 111 MILLION viewers last year.
The World Cup Final last year was watched by an estimated 1.5 BILLION viewers (over one quarter of the world’s population) at least 25 MILLION of which were U.S. viewers.
The tournament itself was watched by 112 MILLION American viewers even more than the Superbowl.
The Champions League final was watch by approx 170 MILLION viewers worldwide over 2 MILLION of which were U.S. viewers.
These figures vary depending on the source.
One must also take into consideration the fact the Champions League final and many of the World Cup games are usually on during work hours on week days where as most Football games like the Superbowl are on primetime or weekends.
I couldn’t dig up any figures on viewership for Pet Programs, Hiking shows or other some of the other far reaching HD Channels that I came across but I’m sure the number would be dwarfed
It makes me wonder what criteria they use to decide which channels take priority over others.

My cable carrier had it on HD. Seattle Sounders outdraw the Mariners. Vidi that. Come on Verizon. It costs me an extra 60 bucks a month to get footie HD FS and FS Plus but to me it's worht it. I watch about every EPL and Serie A game live or repeat. I am going to give V until the start of the next EPL season to get the games up in HD or I am going 100% back to Cablevision.

Trying to find a good soccer bar in Providence - where is it that you have been?
Wondering if and when Fox Soccer Channel will be available in HD.
Neil-
Did you even read any of the posts recently?Rollout of FSC HD begins next week.
somebody know espn deportes hd >????
FINALLY!!!
Now how about Gol TV HD? Can we expect to see that any time soon?
Fox Soccer HD has arrived in the Tampa market! It's showing up on channel 584. It's not listed in the program guide yet, but can be found by just manually entering 584 on the remote.
It is on here in New Jersey as well.
It's not available in RI yet. Hopefully in the next day or so..
It's up and running in Irving, TX.
Finally...
It is up and running in Central PA, VHO 14.
Good job to all of those who did not give up and kept at Verizon to add this channel to the lineup!
Any word on when it's going to be in VA and DC area? Still not here as of this morning, enjoyed yet another week of CL matches in wonderful SD. Thanks Verizon.
Yes, PLEASE add Fox Soccer / Fox Soccer Plus in HD... Maryland (Baltimore)/ VA / DC. Any word "when"?
It's live in VA, fairfax county to be precise, was not online last night but was this morning when I checked. So happy to finally have it, I think I will watch a repeat game just because I want to see what it looks like!
For those of you who do not have it yet, try to enter the channel number (584) to see if it comes up.
For some reason, it was showing on my DVR box, but when I went to check on the non-DVR box, it was not showing up in the Guide menu. When I manually entered the channel number, the channel came on, and then it was showing in the Guide menu. This also happened with Channel 501, MASN2.
Maybe this will work for some of you.
It is amazing how much better it looks when you compare the HD channel to the SD channel.
Everyone,
Rolling channel launches are pretty common in the industry, but suffice it to say, FSC HD launched in Virginia today (April 14) and will launch in our downstate New York market, Massachusetts and Rhode Island during the week of April 25.
Heather

Heather:
We still haven't received an explanation as to why such a delay - this is not a typical rolling launch if it takes three weeks. As paying customers, why aren't we entitled to know the reason why we have to wait so much longer than everyone else in the FIOS marketplace. You treat us as if we aren't smart enough to be able to handle the explanation.
Maybe those of us who have to wait should pay our next months bills three weeks late to show our appreciation for being treated like second class customers. The arrogance at FIOS absolutely amazes me -

Not speaking for FIOS, but different areas are probably handled and run differently (i.e. one size may not fit all). Capabilities may vary. I'd also assume that population just might be a factor. Take Comcast, for example...some areas have over 100 channels and others have 40! At least FIOS offers the same channels to ALL subscribers. Be patient and you'll see it very soon. (I feel worse for the millions of people who have been waiting for BBC-HD because one of the most popular SF shows there is starting a new season...and there's not even an ETA on that one!)
It's alive!!!!
In LA. I only just noticed last night.
Glory be.
Now I can watch two teams I hate (TFC and DC in this case) without all the fuzzy little Sega Genesis-like characters that filled the SD channel.
Thanks, Verizon. Finally.
I'd love to watch it, we had it for a while yesterday morning, but then it went away again and continues to say Currently Unavailable. Tried all kinds of troubleshooting, spent an hour on the phone with tech support (what a waste of time) and now have to wait for a technician to come out early next week. Is anyone else having that problem? Only channel it's an issue with.
Got it here a few days back. Looks great. Would love FSC+ in HD since we pay $15/month for a single channel.
FS HD looks great. Thanks for adding. Just waiting for the rollout of ESPN Deportes HD and I will be happy.
From Heather two weeks ago
Checked htis morning and still not in the Bronx NYC....."week of April 25th" of course probably means Friday the 29th.....
what a joke
But no Fox Soccer Channel + in HD?!?!?!? Why not?
Great ......I have the Man United game all set up on the DVR witht he 584 HD channel ....now if I can only avoid all social media I'll be set.
OK, FSC-HD now available on ch 584 inn VH06....
Thanx....
It's in the bedroom on my non HD TV but TIVO on my HD doesn't seems to have picked up on the new channel yet so I don't think I'll be able to tape the game in HD.
When will FSC+ be available in HD? No way I am paying $15/month for an SD channel.
