Multi-Room DVR Data Error

After many years, my multi-room DVR has stopped working on remote set-top boxes. I've tried all the suggested fixes/reboots/auto-fix/router reboots and nothing works. Someone reported the exact same error in this forum back in 2013. I'm guessing it must be a hardware problem with the main set-top box with the DVR even though the DVR functions work correctly when directly using that box.

OK, from what I can tell the 4100series 1 boxes have a 1TB hard-drive inside. They also have a USB port, but I'm not sure you can connect an external drive to it. I believe you have no limitations in fast forward or rewind on recorded programs, but there are limitations on LIVE programs. You can look here for some of the specs:

What series of Fios boxes do you have? Have you checked all the coax connections and splitters? You could get one of the boxes that isn't working, use a new splitter and put it between the coax feed to your main unit, run an output to the box you pulled, the other output to the cable that feeds the others and see if the pulled box works. If it does the problem is one of the other splitters or cabling.

My boxes are old, I haven't changed them because we have the external hard disk for the DVR and I don't want to lose that capability on the new systems.

I have a main box QIP-7232 P2 and two remote set-top boxes that are QIP 7100 P2. The DVR is mostly working on the main box, but neither of the remote boxes can't see it anymore. I tried even unplugging all of them and even rebooting the router at the same time and have rebooted the main box many times. Also the auto-fix for MRDVR says: Data currently not available. Please try again later.

I can check all the cabling next but nothing has changed recently. Is there any hidden diagnostic I can run to determine if the main box hardware is the problem?

Although a longshot, check the splitters to make sure they are MoCA 2.0 or newer.

If there is a way to move a remote STB close to the main unit, hook them together with a spare splitter and coaxial cables for a test, try that.

My gut feeling is that the boxes are wearing out. A Motorola guide for the QIP 7100 P2 has a date of 2009. 15 years is on the old side and I don't think that Verizon is actively supporting Motorola branded STBs.
