Just saw a commericial on NFL Network for a new channel called NFL Redzone. Is that coming to Fios? If so when? or not details yet?
Thanks Alot.
Loyal Fios Customer
PLEASE get the Red Zone
I hate DIRECTV's customer service which is why I switched but boy do I miss the NFL and especially the Red Zone.
Certainly keeps me a subscriber here more that any kind of contract.
I do love FIOS.
I would pay $99 for the channel
Don't make me hook up the dish just for this.
I really hope FIOS gets this channel. They offer all the sports channels you can imagine, except NBA TV.Here is an interesting article about the channel. It doesn't mention anything about FIOS but it seems alot of cable companies are against it. It would be the perfect channel to compliment Sundays. It will be a different channel than the RZC on Sunday Ticket for DirecTV. FIOS don't let us down.

interesting find hamada.
thus, the battles continue with the NFL and cable providers.
it will be interesting to see what the rezone channel will show during non game times. unless it plans to use it like ESPN 2 or something.
It's unfortunate, but Verizon is slow, very slow, to update, it's sports programming. Why doesn't Verizon carry The NBA Network?? . The NFL RedZone Channel??, Sad to say, but I'm considering going back to Comcast
Verizon did show NBA TV for a couple days in July. It replaced NHL Network (SD only) for a couple days, which I guess was sort of a test run before launching the channel. As for the Red Zone channel, I'm indifferent. I can take it or leave it. I know that Comcast will have it on the sports package, so I guess Verizon would package it with extreme HD.
RAD-
I can tell you NBA TV will be on by the start of the season.

Looks like Verzion is going to offer it as a PPV package. $49.99 for the season.
So if I understand the article, the RedZone channel is free with the sports package (I have the extreme hd package) but $50 for anyone else on PPV, or is it $50 for everyone. I am happy FIOS is getting this WOO HOO!
Thanks.

Looking at the Multichannel article, and the Blog by Eric Rabe, it will be $49.99 for the season for everyone.

Maybe I am just being negative, but I cannot comprehend paying $49 for a channel that will air for a few hours on 17 Sunday afternoons. The NFL Network shows nothing on gamedays except stats and audio from various games - they should be showing Red Zone coverage on their existing network, not asking for more channel space and MORE money. Of course, the NFL knows all about making money, so I suppose this will be a great success.

Without knowing the details of the new agreement between the NFL and D*, I agree that this should be on th NFL Network. What NFL fans watch the NFL Network on Sundays?
and yes, I am sure the NFL wants a nice little penny for this new package.
How about seeing every crucial play from around the National Football League on a Sunday afternoon in real time? That’s the idea behind the new NFL RedZone. And when it launches on Sept. 13, you’ll see it on Verizon FiOS TV.For the football fan, this is huge and we’re excited to be among the first TV providers to carry the NFL RedZone. Fans get touchdowns and other important plays from the games taking place on Sunday afternoons. When a team goes inside its opponent’s 20-yard line, fans will see the plays as they happen. The channel will switch from game to game with live look-ins and highlights.NFL RedZone is a subscription channel that costs $49.99 for the season. It will be available on FiOS TV in both HD (channel 835) and SD (channel 335).Now, I’ll be watching the Eagles every Sunday, but NFL RedZone will be a great way to see what the other teams are doing. Not that I’d be interested in the Patriots or the Giants, of course. But a lot of fans may just end up tuning into the NFL RedZone especially if they are tracking their fantasy football team or want to keep track of teams in other markets. We’re excited that the NFL RedZone will be part of the offer from FiOS TV this fall.
PittFios-
Heck, people shell out $60 for a 3 hour UFC fight. $50 for 17 weeks is a steal!
In all seriousness - I was excited as hell that VZ picked this up - but then they 'updated' the PR a few hours later with the $50 price tag. I'm not happy - but i'll probably pony it up.
well thxs but no thxs Verizon. 50 bucks for 17 weeks your crazy. {please keep it relevant} If it was a channel that was on 52 weeks a year I would gladly pay 50 bucks
AWESOME.
I really appreciate you getting this channel.
I had it at DIRECTV and in my opinion the price is a bargain.
Thanks!!!
Just my opinion but if they want to market this channel they should offer a preview the 1st week (9/13), free to show it off, but the NFL are no dummies, and will hook in all the Fantasty Football Fanatics without a preview, but it would be nice
I agree. The NFL knows that people will pay dearly for this, and they will get every extra dollar they can. Every other league's channel carries highlights and live look ins, but the NFL knows that they can make more money off of the hard core fans by creating an additional channel. Every other league offers a free week's worth of games twice a year, but again, the NFL just does not need to do this. They are maxed out with popularity and exposure, so they can charge whatever they want and get people to buy it.
Guys Nfl redzone channel is 335 and for hd is 835 but it wont be broadcast until sept 13th

Try HERE.
Also there is a post on the Verizon blog about the addition (channels and price).
yea its 50 bucks one time charge, Does anyone know if you can order the channel 335 without the HD channel? It should be cheaper if you dont want the HD
The only advantage I see to the red zone is that its live, I guess thats good for die hard fantasy guys but.....
Why pay for something that nfl.com gives you for free the next day if not later on Sunday night?
50 bucks is not bad, 12.50 a month, but its still not the Sunday Ticket
Most fans want to see their teams entire game, not just the scoring, but the defensive stops, bad play calls by the offensive coordinator, the head coach yelling at the ref for a bad penalty call.
Verizon needs to find a way to take the monopoly of the Sunday Ticket from Direct TV.......
yeah, I saw the channels listed last night. thanks for the update though!
This is nothing short of awesome!!! Anyone who plays fantasy football and has to look at a computer to see what happens when their RB or QB are at the goaline will love this service. I can't wait. I would say $49/season is a steal, but I'd hate for Verizon to raise the price. 🙂
Everybody has the right to waste their money as they see fit. I can see the attraction of this channel to some, but keep in mind that this channel is meant to do nothing more than garner as many dollars as possible for the NFL while maintaining the exclusive rights to NFL Sunday Ticket with DirectTV. It is literally NFL Sunday Ticket-Lite. While it doesn't make up for the colossal blunder of exclusive rights for one TV provider, it does give fans a "real-time" peek at their teams while maintaining the contractual exclusivity for DirectTV. The NFL is no doublt wondering about the wisdom of the DirectTV deal - a subscriber base of around 25 million, only a small percentage that have the means to afford the NFL ST - versus the REST OF THE COUNTRY with roughly the same percentage buying NFL ST. Big mistake going exclusive, and many dollars lost. I think they are trying to recoup those lost dollars with the Redzone. Thank you.
looks like they are offereing a free preview on 10/4 during the early games:

I'm watching the REDZONE on channel 835. Its breaking up every few seconds with audio and video. If this wasn't a free preview and a subscription... I would be......!
No way would I buy this premium....
Have you called and reported the problem? If not, you should, how else is Verizon supposed to know there is a problem?
I have switched to the HD channel probably a dozen times today just to see what it looks like, have not seen or heard one single breakup of video or audio. It jumps around too much for me, no continuity, so I would never sign up for it, but the picture and audio seem fine here. Where are you located?
Whoops, the free preview just ended...

channel 835 was blacked out for me on my tv that is using a cable card. I could only view NFL Redzone on channel 335 (and yes, I do have HD, I get channel 588, etc).
anyone else blacked out with a cable card?
I must admit, I did like what I saw during the free preview of the red Zone channel (My Eagles were on a bye). I am a fantasy football owner, so it was nice to see every score, with no commercials..... Just a thought, but wouldn't it be a great marketing move if Verizon/FIOS, pro-rated the cost of the channel, since 4 of the 17 weeks are finished? That would be approx. $38 for the balance of the season. Bob
The SD version was there, but the HD version wasn't (VHO9), so I figured HD just wasn't free for the day. This really discourages me from ever trying to add channels simply to avoid the frustration of not having it work right.
