Work up this morning to find one of my set top boxes constantly rebooting. It reads 8.88.88 and then shuts off and starts again with the 8's. I unplugged the box for a couple of minutes and no change in the box after it is plugged back in.
Box shuts down 8888 then you have to turn it back on and wait for download EVERY 15 minutes!
I am having the same issue. All HD boxes in my home are continuously rebooting...
I am having the same problems with all of my STBs. If I access the guide and try to scroll up or down that STB will reset. Sometimes it occurs the first time I hit the channel up or channels down button, sometimes the second or third time, but any HD STB, regardless of whether is a DVR or not go through this. If I don’t channel surf then it seems to be okay, but as soon as I try to scroll up or down, the reset begins. Extremely frustrating and now on hold for 35 minutes on top of it all. Just great!
Same here. Just started this evening. Unplugged the box for about 5 minutes, but the endless rebooting continues.
This is also happening to me. I hit the guide button or up and down in the guide and the box reboots. Just started tonight. Wasn't sure if it was remote but tried another and it still happened. Weird one. Checked to make sure all the cords we're sucure and they are fine.
my settop boxes keep rebooting when i use the guide. been happenening for the past 30 minutes
happening to me too
July 11, 9 pm EST, DVR box keeps rebooting over and over, tried unplugging, restarting as website suggested, didn't work. Current wait time for customer support on the phone is reported at between 4 and 6 hours. Chat support apears to be overloaded and isn't taking new customers. Anyone else experiencing this?
As soon as I try to scroll through the guide my box reboots. Has anyone gotten an answer from Verizon?
Ditto. Exactly what Tbh143 and fransley said. About the same time. Hailing from Mechanicsburg, PA.
yup same here. constant crash/reboot, especially on the channel guide screen.
Exactly--especially the channel guide screen.
Same issue began for us too this evening. Watched someting on demand, exited to Live TV, hit "guide", and within 1-3 channel up/down clicks, it reboots.
I’m having the same issue, just started tonight. Does anyone have a resolution? On hold for 30 minutes now waiting to connect to an agent. My estimated wait time was 3 to 4 hours. That’s seems ridiculous.
We have had the same issue start this evening; especially with Guide and then channel up/down actions. Even replaced remote batteries to be sure it wasn't an issue with low battery; and the same thing occurs. Posted on another forum page with similar content in the past, and some posts from today on this same topic.
This just started happening to my Fios as well tonight, it has already rebooted four times in the last 30 mins
.
Yes. Having the same issues. Seems every time we go to the Guide, the DVR box shuts down and has giberish on the display window. This is not happening with our other regular set top box. Hoping to keep it running tonight so I can call tomorrow.
I’ve been on hold now for 1 hour and 3 minutes. This is ridiculous!!
Same here . . . happening on all tvs. Was sitting on hold until Verizon disconnected me. For the money this costs, the service is horrible. Bad enough that I might need to go back to Comcast!!!
Same problem on my dvr tonight. I've been on the fence about dropping verizon, this is pushing me over, the fact people can't even get customer service. They keep providing less, with no decreases in rates. First they discontinue providing email and port us over to AOL (which was bought by them but mind you, they get out of "supporting" it unless you pay a monthly support fee. to AOL. I let my accounts go to AOL for a while thinking I'd transfer to something else when I had time, but low and behold, no cancel button, just a note that they're working on it, but never showed up. I actually had to file a complaint with the FCC, because without paying support, you can't even call them, and someone from AOL/Verizon then contacted me about the complaint and cancelled my emails. I also just recently got a letter they were taking away cinemax and it would be available at an additional cost now. Now these problems and everything I'm reading here, hello Direct Tv. If you're a Costco member, they have a good Direct Tv deal.
Same thing here on both boxes whenever I hit the favorites button or the guide on the remote. So annoying.
I'm think of cutting it all to get expect for internet and just use streaming services like Netflix and Amazon.
It's happening to me also. Whenever I bring up the guide to choose a channel, the DVR reboots. No wonder the online chat is too busy to respond.
It started happening to us also tonight. They must have pushed out a poorly tested upgrade.
I'm having the same problem............rebooted 6 times in last hour. I give up.
I am in agreement with these folks. my box started rebooting everytime I changed channels or accessed the guide or both. It started around 9pm EST july 11th, 2018. If I stay on one channel, I am fine. As soon as I change a channel, the whole device reboots itself. I would call this an outage---hence the lines all full and wait times are 4-6 hours. Verizon should announce this as an issue with updates every 2 hours to keep their customers posted. I guess it is Netflix tonight.
I'm in Levittown, think it's regional?
One hour and 36 minutes and no end in sight! My first call tomorrow is to Comcast. The fact that Verizon thinks it’s okay to have such extreme hold times with no response is just unreal. Where’s my escalation to a live body? This *****
From @VerizonSupport RE: STB Reboot Issue (in Doylestown) . . .
"There is an issue that we are working on. We hope to have it straightened out as quickly as possible. ^RMD"
Same here in NYC. Rebooting almost everytime I pull up the channel guide. It happen once several days ago, but tonight is happening almosty everytime I use the guide. I have to manually punch in the channel to change the channel. I already tried rebooting the STB, but still the same issue. Sounds like a long wait for an verizon agent, so I'll wait until tomorrow to see if there is still an issue and then call it in. Maybe its a defective STB, but sounds like a software issue.
What model stbs? Legacy or quantum?
Another way to contact support is via twitter @verizonsupport
The model STB I have is Motorola.
Same here in Laurel, MD any time I try and navigate the guide. After the reboot I was able to set the channel by directly specifying the channel, then I tried to change the channel by again specifying the channel and the box went to reboot when I tried to display the Guide. Problem at my house and also across town at my freind’s. Sound like a system problem.
Same problem for me. Started this evening. Triggered by navigating the menu
At 11:00 pm Everything is working.
so is this resolved for everyone now? I am not home right now and can't check..but I will check tonite.
AND NO RESPONSE ON HERE FROM VERIZON! THAT'S *******bleep**!
8:30 PM in NYC. Everything seems to be ok for now. Used the channel guide and jumped around and channel surfed for several minutes with no issues. Let's hope it stays that way.
This is basically a user supported forum. You won't see resonses from Verizon on issues posted here.
You might try contacting support (1800 Verizon or twitter @verizonsupport) to see if they can shed some light on the issue.
I had the same problem last night. Followed the instructions to disconnect the power from the box and reconnect and even rebooted the router but the problem wasn't fixed. Called Verizon this morning and there was about a 30 minute wait for customer service. Left my name and number for a call back. They called me 30 minutes later and were able to update the firmware on the box from their end and problem solved.
Once they called it only took about 5 minutes to get everything working again and another 5 minutes to make sure the box was functioning ok. Hope this helps.
We now have had 3 different set top boxes, 2 routers, a new ONT box installed, 2 service techs and a foreman come out ans we still have the set top box rebooting when we try to search for on demand movies. No one seems to know what to do. Very frustrating. Any answers??
I have the fios tv one boxes and all of them keep shutting off or rebooting and the DVR one is not coming back on after it reboots. I pay $300 a month and this happens, after being lied to by verizon that my price would go down if I got fios one, now I have issues with boxes. Not a happy camper with Verizon the last couple of months.
