I have been a Verizon Fios customer for a decade now. My home is hardwired with fiber and direct-to-tv coaxial connections.
I realize Verizon is trying to save money these days -- and that couldn't have been more apparent to me when I was put in charge of setting up Verizon Fios in my brother's new home.
The company shipped him Stream TV boxes. These boxes run off of an ONT main box, connected to a router that transmits the needed WiFi signal.
We had a Verizon installer come to the home to deal with an initial ONT box issue. He was an old-school installer and he was going on and on about how bad these Verizon Stream boxes were. I soon found out he was correct...
There is a great deal of work that has to go into setting up each of these boxes. Lots of firmware updates. Lots of signing in to this and that. Lots of waiting for a slow box to do everything it needs to do before you can start watching TV.
The problem I find is that every time I turn on the TV, I have to sit for up to 5 minutes and wait for the box to load. It goes through a series of setup/startup screens every time the box is powered on.
What happened to the days of being able to turn on your TV and have it instantly show live television? Why am I sitting here waiting for these boxes to boot up every time they are powered?
Am I missing something here?

I will chime in. I agree the one thing the V2 streamtv boxes are not is slow. They are pretty responsive. Look through recent posts. I have posted a slew of stuff pertaining to the streamtv box. My issue with tv and the box appears to have been solved. Have them install the streamtv MoCa adapter. And a three way splitter. That solved my issues. I have no issues with 720p processing. Everything is good now. I had an issue with crawling internet connection after and they replaced my CR1000B router with a previous generation G3100. All is good now. It seems silly that an adapter is needed to make the streamtv box work but that is what is needed. It’s a MoCa adapter designed specifically for the V2 streamtv box. It seems to me they should have designed the box to be a wired connection not a wireless one. I don’t know if my router was bad and contributed to this problem or not. I’m thinking no because internet was generally fine until three days after the MoCa install. I think it was coincidental that the internet speed got slow later on. I have heard quite a few people, techs included that do not like the CR1000A or CR1000B routers. They claim the G3100 is proven as being rock solid and much prefer them. They also prefer just the older style VMS41000 over the stream stuff but I bet that is do to their lack of training on them.
Good luck! I was frustrated for about two months over this.

I have my issues with these new Fios TV+ Stream boxes also - they don't process live 720p programming very well - but one thing they haven't been is slow. When I turn on the TV it goes directly to the picture, or the Home Screen menu, without any delay at all. Navigating the menus and options has been very fast. You might want to ask them for a new Stream box, or a MoCa adapter that will allow you to hardwire the Stream box, in case it's a bad WiFi connection that's causing this issue. This is part of their new way of delivering TV. Eventually it's all going to be delivered via IPTV and the RF/Coax connections will be phased out.
Aside from the video processing issue, the other BIG problem with these new Stream boxes is the very limited technical support. Fios techs I've chatted with have expressed frustration with the roll out, and when asking a representative on the phone or via chat for tech support, they have no clue because of how new it is.
