Where's BBC America HD?
Where's Cartoon HD?
Where's TVLAND HD?
Where's Ovation HD?
Where's WLNY 10/55 HD? A NYC area CBS Owned and Operated Channel!
Where's H2 HD?
Where's CBS Sports Net HD?
Where's HLN HD?
Actually there were some added relatively recently in NY (you mentioned other NY channels) and 3 Pay sports channels in Mpeg-4 were also just added.
The introduction of MPEG-4 may soon mean more channels added, and others changed to MPEG-4 to make room for channels.
Personally I don't want to see any channel sent to FIOS as MPEG-2 changed to MPEG-4(some want all changed over). But I have no problem with them stop converting those channels being delivered to them in MPEG-4 back to MPEG-2. If all of those in MPEG-4 were delivered as such there would probably be more than enough space to add the channels many are asking for.
Of course Verizon will probably take some time to avoid being inundated by those needing to trade in 6xxx boxes.
Channels changing over to Mpeg 4 is not a reduction in quality, but rather a more efficient codec, which would compress the data throughput to a smaller size while maintaining the quality. The only downside here would be the need to trade in boxes that aren't Mpeg 4 compatible.
tns, do you know what channels were added?
He's refering to MSG HD, MSG2 HD and MSG+ HD. These are NY area sports channels, that Verizon had fought for years to carry.
Cablevision, who owns the MSG properties, had refused to let Verizon carry the tv home of the Knicks, Rangers, Islanders and Devils. The NYS courts said they had to, after many years.
Once the NBA and NHL seasons are over, they show WNBA Liberty games, and endless infomercials. So really, the didn't add 3 channels. It's 2, with an over run channel. 1 channel (really) in the summer.
To the Verizon and Verizon Fios company:
I'm getting alittle annoyed that no HD channels has been added to the guide. You say to your customers that you got the most HD channels than anyone else, well, that it not sure at all. Right now Verizon has about 124 hd channels. However AT&T, that's right I said it has about 141, Comcast has about 143, TWC (Time Warner Cable) has about 149, Bright House has about 143.
If I was you I would be addeding new HD channels more often. Here is my request to be added very soon. (*Note I live in Massachsuetts, so other regions may not receive it.)
What, you don't want FearNET HD on there?
Will can't Verizon at least address the issue of adding new HD Channels?
@charliewatts wrote: Will can't Verizon at least address the issue of adding new HD Channels? You mean will Verizon publically comment on what they are doing to add more HD content, not in a billion years. They would rather keep their customers in the dark and annoy the living heck out of them (to the point that they start switching to other service providers) then inform them of what is going on (a brilliant business decsion to alienate your customers). Then they comment by saying we don't want the "Bad Guys" to know what they are working on, which always made me laugh because those "Bad Guys" are all 10 steps ahead of Verizon now. But that being said, this conversion from MPEG-4 to MPEG-2 is supposedly to free up QAM space which will allow them to finally add more content. But like I said in another post, I am not a techie and can't spout off all the specifics about how that works nor do I have any clue on how long it will take them to do it. It's just from what I've read here and on other websites.

Based on this chart .... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1058081 , Verizon has NO PLANS to add any major HD channels in the near future.
But we do have those great .tv HD channels filling up space.

That chart does not say anything about "plans", it identifies "announced" channels. Verizon very rarely if ever announces new channels ahead of time; they may have any number of channels planned that have not been announced, at least I sure hope so.
I have been watching that chart for years, I like to follow what the other providers deliver vs. FiOS. IMO FiOS is not as far behind as some people think.

Another channel that I have been waiting for that Comcast has as well as Uverse is Funimation HD. They took away the SD channel they can at least give us the HD version.
FiOS has added eight HD channels over the last few weeks. They are all MPEG4(H.264) channels. Three baseball channels and five Spanish channels. Although I don't subscribe to the baseball or Spanish package so I don't use any of these new HD channels.
@Russmcfaul wrote: Another channel that I have been waiting for that Comcast has as well as Uverse is Funimation HD. They took away the SD channel they can at least give us the HD version.
if they didnt wanna waste the bandwith for funmation sd what makes you think they would carry funmation hd which takes up 6 times the bandwith of the sd channel. be realistic.
"if they didnt wanna waste the bandwith for funmation sd what makes you think they would carry funmation hd which takes up 6 times the bandwith of the sd channel. be realistic."
It's not that verizon didn't want to waste the space on SD, it's because they couldn't squeeze funimation (olympsat) for more $$.
Verizon claims low viewership, but won't provide the numbers. It was a money grab, pure and simple (my opinion). Sudden notice of cancellation, weak negotiation with funimation, dead silence on the boards. They don't care about the customer. Hell they won't offer a replacement other than VOD. While HD would be nice, I'll take the SD feed if that is all they would offer.
The board comments are up to 43 pages and still active. Low viewership? I don't think so. Give us back our funimation channel.
Comast does NOT carry the FUNimation channel. They only offer VOD like Verizon currently does.
So THIS is what Verizon decides to add??? RLTV HD??? Who the heck asked for this??
RLTV to Launch HD Channel
Washington, D.C. (May 24, 2012) -- RLTV, the channel that caters to the 50 Plus audience, announced yesterday that it will launch a High-Definition simulcast channel by December.RLTV, which is now carried by Comcast and Verizon, says the HD channel will be available in "all of the network's current markets by December 2012.""With RLTVHD, Generation 50+ will be able to watch their favorite shows with greater clarity and depth, enhancing the overall viewing experience," said Patrick Baldwin, RLTV senior vice president. "RLTV strives to deliver the best shows in the highest quality to the 100 million Americans over the age of 50."The channel says that most of its shows are already produced in high-def. RLTV's lineup consists of shows that strive to help older Americans cope with such issues as romance, fitness and health.
That sounds like a RLTV announcement. I haven't seen a Verizon announcement. Of course it may be that a number of HD channels might arrive by the end of the year, including RLTV.
I can point you to some other announcements from various channel providers saying they were coming to Verizon in HD, and they never did.
For those of you who are angry about verizon not having added any HD channels lately well their response is that they just added destination america tv on channel 668 where it is also available on channel 168 in SD. Destination america tv bills itself as being an unabashedly patiotic channel where it used to be called planet green but since no one watched that channel they decided to go with some different content and a different name rather than the save the planet theme that they had. Destination america is owned by the discovery channel and it features such shows as fast food mania, bbq pitstops and the united states of food.

Sorry to dsiappoint, but this is NOT a new channel nor is it a new HD add. It is simply a rebranding of the PLANET GREEN channel we have had all along. Channel 668 has always been there. The channel had previously been known as Discovery Travel & Living, Discovery Home & Leisure, Discovery Home, and Planet Green.
Verizon FiOS, Univision Ink Far-Reaching Affiliate Pact Deal Includes Linear Renewals, Launch of Three New Cable Services, Multiplatform Authentication Rights Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 6/1/2012 7:55:00 PM
Continuing its 2012 distribution roll, Univision Communications has reached a comprehensive deal with Verizon FiOS covering the U.S. Spanish-language media leader's linear services, its trio of new cable networks and authentication rights across an array of services.
The multiyear agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, encompasses continued carriage of, and on-demand programming for, Univision's and TeleFutura's owned-and-operated broadcast stations; the network feeds of Univision and TeleFutura; the distribution of the cable network Galavisión; and launches for Univision's new cable service, sports network Univision Deportes, telenovelas network Univision tlnovelas and FOROtv, a Spanish-language news network.
The FiOS pact is Univision's third far-reaching affiliate agreement in 2012. Dish Network and AT&T U-versereached deals with the media giant in January and May, respectively, for continued carriage and launches of new services. Under their agreements, both the No. 2 DBS company and the second-ranked video telco provider have rolled out or committed to launch Univision Deportes (Dish has an exclusive agreement for Deportes Dos this year), Univision tlnovelas and news service FOROtv.
The FiOS agreement also includes plans for multiplatform authentication rights for UVideos, Univision's upcoming digital video platform where viewers can interact with the best in Hispanic programming, including current shows from Univision's portfolio, as well as all of the existing networks and the new channels joining the FiOS TV lineup.
"We are excited to expand our relationship with Verizon as they recognize the growth potential with the exploding Hispanic demographic in this country," said Deanna Andaverde, senior vice president , distribution sales and marketing at Univision Communications, in announcing the affiliate agreement. "This deal speaks to Univision and Verizon's commitment to continue to deliver compelling and relevant content offerings to U.S. Hispanics."Noted Ben Grad, director of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon: "As the country's leading provider of Spanish-language programming, we are committed to giving our customers the most robust package of such programming available today. We look forward to working with Univision Communications to ensure FiOS TV features the Spanish-language channels that are important to our customers."
In other words, nothing for English-speaking subscribers.
You Should really consider going to another service provider, They aren't adding channels anymore instead they are cancelling great channels, like the funimation channel. Their box and tv guide is the worst
Verizon has added a lot of new hd channels it's just that those channels that have been added are channels that not everyone may watch. The MLB Extra Innings package had hd channels added to it and they have added at least a dozen channels in hd to the spanish package where they have a lot more that they are going to be adding soon. Sports channels and spanish channels get a lot of viewers for tv providers where verizon knows this so they will continue to add more hd to those packages very soon.

Not that many viewers want those channels. Far more people want something like CARTOON-HD than some SPanish channel (the majority of viewers are still English-speaking.) Personally. I don't care if they add 30 Spanish SD channels...as long as they provide the majority of their viewers with what they have been clamoring for. And so far, Verizon has NOT done that. If Verizon want to become the Spanish provider, that's fine. But if it continues, I think of many of us will get our HD elsewhere..
HLN HD??
BBCA HD??
COOKING HD??
CBSS HD??
OWN HD??
TOON HD??
OVATION HD??
This post may be deleted by the mods, but here's the thing. Fortunately, i was in a cautious mood when I signed up month to month. There is a two part solution to the lack of content, horrible user interface and the myriad of other problems. Tomorrow Verizon gets their equipment back, and another service installs theirs. I signed up with Verizon primarily for broadband speed, and Fios internet is great, but it isn't great enough to make up for the awful TV.
Just thought I'd add "History Channel 2 HD" to the wishlist.
verizon needs to add evry nba league pass game in HD this year or i wii seriously consider dropping my tv package!
Since the OP mentioned it, WLNY-HD is now on channel 510.

You actually watch the OWN channel!?!?!? That makes like 5 people now.
TCM HD
BBC America HD
OWN HD
Seriously, promoting THE BEST TV and INTERNET provider with less than stellar numbersof HD channels is simply rediculous. I switched from Optimum to Fios and I am very disappointed by the HD lineup.

Hey, we can't get them to KEEP popular channels (see Funimation), why would they add new ones?
FROM MY ORIGINAL POST IN THIS THREAD .......
What else am I missing from the original list?
Where's Cooking Channel HD?
please add FEARNET HD before october 31, 2012 for nyc ty
DIY HD and most importantly...BeIn Sports!
DTV has added 8 NEW HD CHANNELS in the past 2 weeks including H2 HD, COOKING HD, HLN HD and TVLAND HD!!!
When will Verizon add these? I'm hoping within the next few weeks?????
@charliewatts wrote: DTV has added 8 NEW HD CHANNELS in the past 2 weeks including H2 HD, COOKING HD, HLN HD and TVLAND HD!!!When will Verizon add these? I'm hoping within the next few weeks?????
And I am hoping to win the Powerball lottery, unfortunately I think the odds of that happening and Verizon adding those HD channels in the next few weeks are exactly the same. I would LOVE to have H2 in HD, only I am not holding my breath. Apparently the ONLY channel we are getting anytime soon is the TV Guide-HD channel. That is as big of a waste as those god awful .tv channels.
Hey VZ I would LOVE to have Fuel TV in HD like on the satellite carriers....I am a big UFC fan and Fuel TV is only on SD on FiOS...This need to change ASAP...Please add Fuel TV HD Verizon....
I was at a friends house with DTV for the Super Bowl. Before the game I got to switch around the channels to check out their new HD offerings.. HLN, H2 and Cooking all looked real good on their 57" plasma.
VERIZON .... Are you listening?
Ever actually look at all the HD channels Direct TV does not have and verizon does? Also I'd never go back to satellite. Having my picture go out because of a small cloud or a little foliage is just pathetic.
We do need more HD channels. Not BeIn. Not Blaze.
The list of missing HD channels on Verizon are above. You know the list HLN, H2, TVLand, Cooking, CBS Sports, Fuse, TCM .........
Verizon will rarely announce a future channel add, until about the time the channel is being rolled out.
However, with today's e-mail about the migration to MPEG-4 on 20 channels, I would expect some additions soon after the dust settles.
What e-mail?
@Caps09 wrote: What e-mail?
Some people (not me) have received an email from Verizon saying that around Arpirl 15 there will be some new HD channels, and they will be distributed in MPEG4, which the Motorola QIP6xxx boxes cannot receive. So if you have any of those boxes you can get them replaced for free.
Here is a poorly formatted text copy of the email:

I see 8 more channels added in the past week or 2 on my CableCARD channel map.
The ones sticking out at the end of the list are Teleamazonas, BeIn Sport en Espanol, and some NBA channels. Not sure if anything else yet.
There are more hd channels on the way that starting in september they will be launching them where many of them will be entertainment channels that will be in spanish and in english. Sony movie channel, espn deportes hd, univision deportes hd and some more .tv channels are a few of the ones on the way. Channels in spanish will launch on the same day for everyone in the country who has fios tv but the ones that are in english will end up taking some time. If you are familiar with how verizon does things then you know it will take a long time for those channels to eventually be added for everyone in the country. Tv guide in hd is something that took almost a year for everyone to end up getting and while that channel is not a big deal for people if how long it took for it to be added for everyone in the country is a indicator of what is to come then those new hd channels additions may not be made available to everyone in the country until next year. So while one part of the country gets to enjoy those channel additions other parts of the country will have to wait a very long time for them to be added. I will caution people about the supposed inside info being put out there by people on other websites because the individuals claiming to be verizon insiders are not really who they claim to be. They are employees of other companies who are trying to get verizon customers to switch to another tv provider where how it works is they say there are 40 hd channels on the way and when it does not happen people take out their anger on verizon thinking that 40 new hd channels were going to be added when in fact that was never the case and decide to switch to another tv provider. If you are familiar with the rumors that are out there every year you will always hear that there is a ton of hd on the way and it never happens. For anyone to claim there is a ton of hd on the way is the first sign it is simply not true because as people know by now hd content has not been a high priority for verizon for quite some time.
