a/v input button on remote won't work

I'm trying to help my 79 year old father. He has FIOS for his tv & computer. My brother got him Netflix with a box to enable him to watch movies instantly on his TVs, but I can't get the a/v input remote button to work on his older Magnavox tv. I went through the list to program his remote. 8 codes will turn the tv on & off, but will not work the a/v input.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to help him?

there usually is one code that will do more features than other codes. so if you have tried as many codes as you can from the magnavox list, then it's possible that there isn't a code that will do the av input button.

that leaves you with two options as well

1. live with using two remotes, 1 to do AV input, and a 2nd one to control fios.

2. buy a different remote control like a harmony or Unifier 100 or URC-100, and have it control the fios and the magnavox. it will take the place of all your remotes, and will likely do the av input.

I agree completely with the other poster. If the codes dont work, you're going to have to use the actual TV remote. Thats the number one problem with a universal remote, its not guranteed to work with EVERY SINGLE TV ever made.
