tennis channel

Is it possible to purchase the tennis channel alone, or only as part of a sports package? We do not get it (except I think it is a free preview now during the French Open). When I log into my account, it is only list as an option under the $15/month Sports Package.

Does anyone know how much it is by itself?

Thanks!

Will Verizon be adding any other HD channels, specifically Tennis Channel HD, anytime soon?  I live in NNJ and already have received the new 100 HD channels upgrade right after NYC did which is great, but more would be better because trying to watch SD channels on an HDTV isn't that fun.

Yes, they plan on adding more. The said before the end of the year that they would carry all available HD's.

Depends on your location.  I believe the sports package is only NNJ and NYC DMA.  Tennis channel is part of the Extreme package and up.  AFAIK it is not available ala carte.

Tennis channel was just dropped completely.  I wonder how we can get it back -- http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r26251034-FIOS-TV-Tennis-channel-being-dropped-?r=726#26265619

+1 for Tennis Channel (and Fox Soccer channel) in HD on FiOS!

Firebolt, Tennis Channel was not dropped by Fios, stop confusing what Frontier does to Verizon.

Hey Firebolt,

It turns out Verizon is in a contract dispute with Tennis Channel and it will be taken off tonight after all. What you wrote was about Frontier, but there are also other cable companies in dispute with Tennis Channel too.

Tennis Channel is off on VHO7 as of 12am.

The screen should make it clear that Verizon took the channel off due to a contract renewal dispute instead of just saying, "Tennis Channel programming is not available at this time."

From what I could find out from web searches, The Tennis Channel wants to increase its penetration by moving from sports tiers to digital basic, which for Verizon means moving it from Ultimate HD to Extreme HD. Multichannel News reports that negotiations resumed with Verizon today (Sunday).

This is the first time I can remember a channel being removed due to a carriage dispute since I got FiOS in May 2009. I feel pretty confident that they'll get a new deal done though. I got an e-mail from Verizon this morning letting me know about TTC being "temporarily" unavailable.

I hope this is only temporary. It seems to be more than a "coincidence" that this happened right in the middle of the US Open!

If Verizon doesn't fix this, then I will leave them. I watch tennis all the time, so this is a HUGE problem with my continued use of Verizon.

One of the reasons that I switched to FIOS was for The Tennis Channel. To have it cancelled, and right in the middle of the US Open really stinks. Bring it back soon.

I cannot believe Verizon Mgmt would choose this weekend of all weekends to try to renegotiate their contract with the tennis channel! It is the primary reason we switched to Fios in the first place.  Biggest tennis weekend of the year and we have no coverage we all pay for!!!  You are going to lose a million customers over this stupidity! We are calling AT and T first thing Tuesday.

i am upset about the tennis channel situation too. The only reason i picked FIOS when i moved here was because it was offered on their line up. I can not afford to upgrade to the higher package its listed under now. I currently have the extreme package, but i see tennis listed under the 90 dollar a month package.

I sent COMCAST a message asking how much tennis channel is on their line up.

I am paying for the Fios Ultimate HD TV and am STILL NOT getting TTC. What is up with THAT?  If FIOS isnt gonna carry TTC, I will have to go elsewhere.

Fios would love to continue to give TTC just to those in Ultimate and Extreme packages.  TTC wans it in premier as well, and until it gets that (and anything else in the new agreement) has pulled its programming.  Note TTC pulled the programming not Verizon.  In many cases various channels that are in talks with carriers still allow their programs to be carried, but in others they pull them during major events to try and force the carriers to come to an agreement.

I agree 100%. I switched to FIOS for Tennis Channel. Since it was simply removed (in the middle of the US Open no less and without any warning) I have been exploring my options. I don't need to cough up this much cash and not even be able to get something as basic as the Tennis Channel!!

I would say that this is on TTC, not Verizon. TTC charges Verizon for their service and Verizon is just trying to cover their costs. Verizon should be free to provide it on whatever tier they want. As much as I love TTC and would pay to have it, many don't care at all about it. So Verizon makes it available to those who want it. I believe that putting it on the lowest tier would not increase viewership as much TTC thinks it would.

How do we organize to get Verizon to hear our plea?  Class-action anyone?
