Hi. Doesn't anyone have a traditional landline home phone hook up, with a traditional phone? I've only been reading about fancy hookups for a house phone.

I'm not sure what you mean by "fancy." Verizon continues to offer plain-old-telephone service (POTS) in many markets, although they often provide it over fiber. If you get fiber based phone service, they will install a device called an ONT in your home. It has a phone jack on it that you plug into a phone or your existing home wiring.
Further, if you have fiber service, you could subscribe to Fios service such as super-fast internet and TV. Fios digital voice (FDV) is an option, too. FDV is unregulated phone service using VoIP technology, however to the end user it is simply a lower cost, higher featured phone product than traditional POTS. Equipment plugs into the ONT just as before; it just gives you more features for less money.
