I am now able to get to the E mail page, but all messages and saved messages are missing. Help!!!!!

I had the same problem. I was finally able to get in but ALL of my email is gone.

This is absolute nonsense. Taking way to long. They sure know how to badger you when your bill is late. I am sick of Verizon.

Awesome. I can get in now, too... but all of my saved mails, orders, reciepts, important communications.. are gone. Tabla rasa. That's well over three years worth of saved communications gone.
Same here. Finally got on to check e-mails and EVERYTHING is gone. Seriously? I am in a panic as I had e-mails on there that were for a legal case I might have to pursue.

I was just able to get into my email here in MA - but only 2 new messages in my inbox. ALL of my email (inbox and folders) are all gone. I sure do hope Verizon has a backup and that they are planning to restore (some of my email is downloaded to other computer but some is not).
I'll bet my contacts are gone also

I got a weird error message when I tried to log on to my home PC this morning. When I checked again this afternoon, I could log in but everything was cleared out.
My iPhone did retain everything though, but no new messages since yesterday. I sent myself a test message from my work account on my phone and it went through (but took a while.)

We are diligently working to recover any of your email folders that cannot be seen at this time. When the issue is fully resolved, email previously sent or received and any personal folders you created prior to this interruption will be available.
While Verizon is working to resolve this issue, you can view updates as new information us available on verizon.com/outage.
If you regularly use a POP email client such as Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo or Mac Mail you may not have noticed any adverse impact outside of the temporary inability earlier today to connect to your servers.

My messages are all gone too here in NJ! AND I got an email from one of my friends that he received some strange email from my verizon account. it was dated 8/25/2013. What the heck!!
Email would not connect for several hours. Then it connected ONLY there were NO emails in my history or folders. It missed sending me several emails that people said they had sent. It looked like I was a totally new customer. I have not gotten any answers as to what happened and why. Anyone have the same trouble? Anyway to get back history emails?

I am now abale to access my email sub-account following today's snafu by Verizon, however all of my folders are missing. Has this happened to anyone else?? I had a number of very important emails in there and now they appear to be lost. I could not find any help related to recovering these folders and the live chat is also not available. They must be hiding in their foxholes to avoid the grenades being tossed their way.

There is a number for support (supposedly) at 1-800-verizon but good luck in getting a person. I tried live chat and it just shutdown on me. I have not seen any emails or info about the missing folders from verizon technical. I have a 'bad feeling' about this.
Here too. Can now access my email, but inbox is empty. I did have 4 or 5 emails (read) that are now gone.
All of my emails are gone. My contacts are gone and my saved folder is gone. I can access my email now and have a new email message. Online support says my messages should be back in 12 hours-- that was at 3PM. I have no confidence in Verizon. How could this happen?

Heather_VZ's update implies that other than missing folders, everything's peachy. I disagree. Verizon e-mail servers pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net are still not accessible and all-day inaccessiblilty is not what I would deem "temporary inability... to connect to your servers." It's still on-going.
Please post an update as to when they're expected to become available. Thank you.
all my emails are gone - i had a lot of folders and they are all empty - what happened and can we expect to have them returned?????
my email account was down all day! now that im able i'm missing a lot of emails. this is common with verizon- taking it and giving it right back..
Still no ping response from pop.verizon.net (as of this post).
Called Verizon support and recorded message states that "...engineers are aware of e-mail outage and are working to restore service..."
E-mail is accessible via web interface, although that's NOT how I usually access my mail.
Still would like an "official" update about expected restoration of all e-mail service.

Yes, you will get your E mail back. Be patient!!! If your mail is important, back it up somewhere else as well. Then you can get the mail from another place, like another E mail account .
I realize it doesn't help with your current issue but I highly reccomend moving to another email service. (gmail, yahoo, outlook.com)
Also, since Verizon supports POP, many email services (such as gmail) allow you to import any old mail. The downside is that you have to deal with ads which annoy some people.

I agree. I use Verizon email for very little and messages are automatically forwarded to my primary email. Consequently, I didn't know Verizon mail had a problem until I read about it on the forum. My Verizon mail was received during the down time.
I just want to add if you want ad free, https login, google doc integration, and very fast page loads try out the free version of www.zoho.com/mail/ . You can set it to keep all email on the VZ server (as a backup) as well as easly archive from the web interface. I just started using the dropbox integration for attachment storage in the cloud.
Rob thanks for pointing that out. If I send from my netzero to my VZ account; then reply back both emails go through. And like you if I ping pop and smtp both time out

I just called Verizon since emails are still missing and was told that the issue is estimated to be resolved tomorrow, 9/14/13, morning. The representative had to put me on hold and check. He even did not have the info. readily for a customer. Also, I did not see this info. on the website or hear it in a phone recording, very unprofessional. It seems unbelievable to take this long for a company as big as Verizon. In addition, I was told that I have to request compensation for the inconvenience. You would think for the extensive inconvenience, that this would be automatic.
Finally, I see today that they have a message posted on webmail login page that they are working on retrieving everyone's email folders. TG.

Since the email outage last week -- I still have no folders restored back to my online webmail portal -- does anyone else or is there somewhere else we have to contact to get them back??
This email problem has been going on for more than two days. I have email access but no folders to reference my active communications with other emails. Trying to figure out what has been going on is like trying to put a jigsaw puzzle together without knowing what the puzzle looks like. My opinion is that this email problem isn't being handled properly. I went from not having any access to email to now having email access BUT without any access to my created folders. That's like going to drive your car but no gas.Doesn't really help! Also trying to find out what is going on (you know,communication) is ridiculous! I don't need to spend hours trying to look for Verizon phone numbers to call to get a real person on the line Can,t find "live chat" anywhere??? These are the consequences of a not well thought out system that is in place. I understand that technical problems can happen but the responses are from Verizon are very poor! I need answers and empathy not wasted time and STRESS! Fix the email issues and fix your valued customers. You might be the Bosses but we are your Employers and we hire and fire you everyday!!! Get it RIGHT!

My email is back however I'm missing all my "sent emails" and also there is a huge gab in my incoming emails. I'm missing all emails from Aug 2013 to Jan 2013. Is anyone else having this problem?

I can now use my email normally and all of my folders back...except my inbox. Anyone else have this issue? I'm worried that my inbox will never be restored and, as a consequence, I will have lost several important emails. Thanks!
