Sending non-Verizon email using Thunderbird V8

Question

I can send email using Thunderbird if it's from my userid@verizon.net but not if it's from userid2@gmail.com.

I've configured my SMTP account as:

* Server Name: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net (outgoing.verizon.net doesn't work)
* Port: 465
* User Name: my Verizon userid
* Authentication Method: Normal Password
* Connection Security: SSL/TLS

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.  TIA

Never mind folks.  I switched to the GMail SMTP server and I can now send email using any userid.
