Verizon Network Extender + GPS?

Does anyone know if the Verizon Network Extender requires a proper GPS signal in order to function, or is it only necessary for E911, etc? I'm thinking about buying one, but I'm concerned about being able to get a good enough GPS signal in my house.

As a test, I've tried walking around the house with my older Garmin GPS and it doesn't seem to be able to acquire a satellite signal, even near windows.

Also, the Network Extender's included GPS antenna & extension cable don't appear to be suitable for exterior use, so I probably couldn't run the cable outside or anything.

Any info or advice on ths will be much appreciated.

Hello Johnnyzero,

Yes it does require a GPS signal before the wireless function will enable on the extender. Without a functional GPS signal calls will be redirected to the nearest compatible cell tower. ( http://support.vzw.com/pdf/network_extender_user_manual.pdf )
