Dear Verizon Yahoo! member,

We’re writing to let you know that Verizon Yahoo! Mail has made changes to POP mail and SMTP settings to ensure ongoing security. We have modified the way your email is handled when you send or receive messages through a mail application other than Verizon Yahoo! Webmail.

If you use only Verizon Yahoo! Webmail to access your email account, no action is required and you may disregard this message.
If you do use another application, such as Outlook Express®, to access your Verizon Yahoo! Mail, you will need to modify your email account settings to take advantage of the enhanced security.

In order to make these modifications, visit Verizon Yahoo! Help for quick and easy instructions on changing your email settings.

We encourage you to act now to ensure that your Verizon Yahoo! email account settings offer the greatest protection, now and in the future.

Thank you for being a valued Verizon Yahoo! member.

Sincerely,

Verizon Yahoo! Customer Support

Yes this is legitimate. SSL security is being introduced to further secure your email. Please check the SSL boxes and set the outbound port to 465 and inbound to 995.
