verizon e-mail server

Emails to me from some people are bouncing with the message "Mail server for "verizon.net" unreachable for too long"  When the email is resent, it finally gets through, but this is a pain.  I talked to 2 different verizon techs and both say all my settings are fine and that it's not verizon's problem.  but the error message is saying it's the verizon server causing the problem.  any advice?

The message you showed says verizon.net not reachable.  So it could be something wrong with the connections or routing from your senders to Verizon's network.  Or of course as you thought with  Verizon and its servers.

I currently have a ticket open about this very problem.  It is intermittent and happens most frequently with messages sent to a YahooGroups mailing list.  SOMETIMES (not always), these messages are not delivered and bounce back to Yahoo (after 24-48hrs) with the report "Mail server for 'verizon.net' unreachable for too long."  Other Verizon.net members of the mailing list also do NOT receive the bounced msgs, but non-Verizon users do.  I'm aware of the problem happening as far back as late spring or summer of this year, but because the msgs are actually sent to the list members from YahooGroups rather than directly from the original sender, the sender does not receive the bounce error, and we don't always know that we've not received the message.
